Re: Game 16, 2021-22: Rhode Island (1/15)

Palm you are certainly correct aboutMcCall and this board. He got far too much adulation despite it being clear, at least to some of us after 2 years, that he was not up to this job.
Also no question that Thorr would have (is) the answer as AD - although I rather doubt he would even come if asked.

Re: McCall's 22-23 Buyout

I don’t like Pitino personally at all. However, if he was hired we would be in the NCAA within 2 years and he would make an immediate effect on attendance and enthusiasm with the program. I don’t think it would be unreasonable to think he would come here. We could match the Iona package and, I think...

Econalum you are right on about both Lombardi and Swammy. Not only outstanding improvements academically the schools endowment fund has gone from 143 million in 2003 to 922 million in 2020.

Re: Game 14, 2021-22: Duquesne (1/8)

Absolutely Bamford’s call. After Kelsey jilted him, ostensibly because of the shenanigans of the previous regime, Bamford rushed the decision, and made a very poor decision. Hopefully he is doing his homework now and makes a better decision this time! The chancellor has done a great job with the aca...

Re: New UMass Basketball Podcast

When a new AD comes in, they inherit all the coaches that were hired by someone else. In many instances, they make changes feeling less of an allegiance to someone that somebody else put in. I am not saying this is right or wrong but it happens quite a bit.

Re: New UMass Basketball Podcast

John Leonard was a nice person albeit pretty quiet. I think both he and Lappas would have stayed here forever. I think Leonard still lives in Amherst and kudos to him for getting his older son to play hockey for a college that let him go. John McCutcheon was a wonderful person. I think he was under ...

Re: New UMass Basketball Podcast

Players under McCall have regressed. Both Pierre and Weeks were better their freshman year. In addition he has whiffed consistently on transfers. In addition Ford added transfers who were productive; Forbes Brower Life Gaffney Lowe and Harris had excellent 4 year careers and Dante Milligan improved ...

I wonder if fans can attend the game on Monday. I have seen nothing about this on UMass Athletics site

Re: New UMass Basketball Podcast

I got to know Lappas pretty well when he was here and was really not a bad guy at all. Very knowledgeable. I understand his tenore here was not good but he did recruit both Stephane Lasme and Rayshuan Freeman

Re: Game ##, 2021-22: home vs Saint Louis

NCAA has said that if a team cannot field a team in the FBS playoffs they will have to forfeit.
I would bet the house that those teams will play with a very minimal amount of players out.

Re: Game 13, 2021-22: Saint Louis (12/30)

It looks to me that St. Louis is ducking out. They are probably losing some of their better players so, rather than go to Amherst shorthanded, they opt to cancel. If the game cannot be rescheduled, we should absolutely have the home game on 1/23.

Re: Attendance figures

I think the biggest issue, by far, is a that we have had a poor to average (at best) team the last 7 years. The declining attendance bear that out.
However I do agree that marketing and game day experience are very lacking
