Re: Game 19, 2021-22: at La Salle (1/26)

Honestly, I forgot they were playing. Saw the replay on +. Love seeing them come back to gets conference road win!

Pretty lousy shot selection by both teams though. Amazing how often guys take deeeeeep threes.

You make several valid points…but it always comes back to your last sentence, doesn’t it?

I'll never complain about a team that plays hard and gets beat. At the very least, they should come out and play like they care. That's on the coach, the staff and the players themselves.

Ya gotta wanna!

Re: Games 17 & 18, 2021-22: Saint Louis (1/20 & 23)

Did anyone really think we would win this game? I was guessing a 10-15 point loss, let's face it, "back to reality" for this team. A winnable game on the road at LaSalle on Wednesday. Let's see how the guys respond. LaSalle is 5-5 at home so it won't be easy (sorry, it's never easy). Wait...

Re: Games 17 & 18, 2021-22: Saint Louis (1/20 & 23)

Look at the bright side: Ryan Marcus’ 4-4 from the free throw line enabled them to score more points in the second half than they did in the first half. :? Fairly early in the 2nd half the radio guys were saying things like, they’re playing out the string, they can’t wait to get on the plane,...

Re: Attendance figures

Great ideas all, but other than the hard core fans, nobody is showing up to see a losing team...not in Amherst, not in Springfield, not anywhere.

People (casual fans) have too many other options...

Get the program going in the right direction...and they will come.

Love to see that level of emotion and commitment from the person (allegedly) leading the men’s team!

if UMass wins and there's no one there to see it, does it count?

The Cage would look empty with a gathering this small in it.

In case anyone is interested it’s St. Louie 38 UMass 37 at the half in a very empty Mullins Center.

Re: Replacements for McCall

This may not be fair, but I remember Bruiser's offense being pretty boring - Monty Mack racing around the court until he got an open pass and hoisting up a three. His teams played tough D and they rebounded. In the 20+ years since he left, perhaps he’s developed an offensive philosophy to complemen...

Re: Replacements for McCall

I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be good candidates interested in the position.

Quality school, quality league, top notch facilities and a fan base just waiting to support a quality program.

Re: Game 16, 2021-22: Rhode Island (1/15)

UMass crowds have been old for quite a while. My daughter used to refer to fans as quips at games I’d take her to at the Cage, pre-Mullins Center.
