Re: Game 17, 2021-22: Saint Louis (1/20)

if UMass wins and there's no one there to see it, does it count?

Just kidding...great to see the team beat TF. 8)

Re: Game 17, 2021-22: Saint Louis (1/20)

The Cage would look empty with a gathering this small in it.

Re: Game 17, 2021-22: Saint Louis (1/20)

In case anyone is interested it’s St. Louie 38 UMass 37 at the half in a very empty Mullins Center.

Re: Replacements for McCall

This may not be fair, but I remember Bruiser's offense being pretty boring - Monty Mack racing around the court until he got an open pass and hoisting up a three. His teams played tough D and they rebounded. In the 20+ years since he left, perhaps he’s developed an offensive philosophy to complemen...

^ I’d welcome him back with open arms!

He’s a class act and his teams played hard!

Re: Replacements for McCall

I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be good candidates interested in the position.

Quality school, quality league, top notch facilities and a fan base just waiting to support a quality program.

Re: Game 16, 2021-22: Rhode Island (1/15)

UMass crowds have been old for quite a while. My daughter used to refer to fans as quips at games I’d take her to at the Cage, pre-Mullins Center.

Love to see Thorr back in Amherst. Brown came back....why not Thorr?

I have positive memories of my interactions with him from when he worked with Wally Novak.

Re: Game 16, 2021-22: Rhode Island (1/15)

...Watching the sparse number of fans today broke my heart. The fans will come back when we play smart and we play hard! We have a fan base they are just lost but believe me they are there and just need to be woken up. UMass basketball has always been a blue collar type brand of basketball. Get bac...

None the year before Cal came, when I began my run of being a STH. I started going to games regularly again during the Gerlufsen years.

Re: Attendance figures

I didn't miss a Cage doubleheader during my days as a student. I attended each of Julius' home games, games freshman and varsity. In fact my roommate and I bought season tickets for the 70-71 season to beat waiting in those lines ($35). I loved those days as well as the years at the Cage prior to th...
