I agree with Mike. Joe did the right thing. He probably should have taken steps like this earlier in the season. Maybe players would think twice before embarrassing themselves and the University!

Regarding hockey…UMass has a top notch coach and 1st class facilities. As a result we have a nationally competitive program that’s made the tournament what…5 of the last six seasons including two appearances in the championship game, one of which UMass has won.

Maybe all this stuff gets shielded from public view, but wouldn't a school with a highly regarded sports management program like UMass, take advantage of all that knowledge to minimize these mis-steps in their own athletic dept?
