Re: Conference Realignment

No eldonabe, not just basketball. URI has been doing well in FCS, but their stadium was terrible. However, they have been given 65M by the legislature, with 42M towards replacing the east stands. The other side is restricted by the Ryan Center, but their is space in the south end zone for a footbal...

Re: MAC Sports topics that include Hoops

This is a post from the MAC board after Missouri State commits to CUSA and going FBS. Would regularly qualify for the top 8? How exactly is that assumption justified? Support for Umass/MAC is going to be suspect at best. What kid worth anything is going to want to play in a 20% of capacity building...

Re: Moving to the Pioneer Valley?

Personally, I would avoid Northampton and Amherst but that depends on your politics. Hamp is Poor Liberal (who think they are rich) and Amherst is Rich Liberal (who are rich).... and they are hard liberal. I know a lot of good people in those towns, but the town politics are mind numbing. If your e...

Re: Conference Realignment

Missouri State moving to CUSA, probably solidifies Western Kentucky there as well. Time will tell if the MAC moves to 14 teams. Illinois State and Rhody are two possible teams with basketball history. Albany has potential in joining the MAC and being in the capital with a decent media market. Close...

Re: MAC Sports topics that include Hoops

This is a post from the MAC board after Missouri State commits to CUSA and going FBS. I've been on the Stony Brook board some time ago. Things have changed in the administration and do not feel they will move up. Understand Illinois State. Like Albany but would like to throw in Rhody, which like Il...

So they are like my ex-wife. They don't spend my money, they only tell me how I can spend my money.

Damn - that is as succinct and accurate a description of Amherst/Hamp - Evah!

Re: New Transfer Rules

I stopped caring as much a while back and now I am looking at this through a little more unbiased lens. North East football in general is not popular. The weather is only decent for about half the season, and there is no critical mass of College Football fans that will consistently fill a stadium (u...

Re: New Transfer Rules

I'd rather say we are a high mid-major team in a mid major world. With Frank Martin and his great staff, we'll be fighters and hopefully doing well. However it is up to YOU guys to support the Massachusetts Collective for players and the Court Club for the coaches, facilities and student athletes! ...

I am surprised that nobody has started a thread about this here. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39963389/ncaa-approves-new-transfer-rule-allowing-immediate-eligibility This will be the death-knell for a school like Umass. Re: New Transfer Rules

These rules have been in place since December, they aren't new. The change that IS good is that grad transfers must abide by the portal dates as well. Gotta adapt! https://www.themasscollective.com/join Not the part about mid-year immediate eligibility...... that was the final dagger. For e...

Re: Moving to the Pioneer Valley?

What towns in the Amherst area would you recommend looking into? I've lived in Colorado for the past 20 years and have pretty much done almost all of the adventures to be had here. My parents live on Cape Cod and are aging. My wife and I both work remotely and can live anywhere. I'm thinking that g...
