If UMass is smart, they rightsize their athletic department, eliminate football, and focus on fundraising for basketball and hockey. Get back in the Atlantic 10. Pledge to spend 6 million per year on basketball NIL and 1 million on hockey NIL.

Re: Game 10, 2025: Northern Illinois (11/12)
Well hard to spin the narrative here. Umass Football is the joke of all college sports right now. Hard to be positive or even remotely hopeful for this to turn around. Just never figured it out. but again this proves my point of the mediocrity FBS football in New England and the Northeast ...

Why don't the boosters get together to fire Bamford?

Re: Game 6, 2025: @ Kent State (10/11)
I'm a UConn fan so I have my own biases and motivations, but hear me out.
I do think UMass joining FBS has been an unmitigated disaster.
Here is what I would do:
1. Call the A-10 and beg to get back in
2. Can the football program
3. Reach out to the Big East and offer the following:

Re: McGuirk Upgrade
UMass should not increase capacity at McGuirk. UMass has not sold out a home game there since 2014 against Bowling Green. Before that, the prior sellout was against New Hampshire in the 2006 FCS quarterfinals. Prior to that, I don't even know. Going back to 1982 (the last year Wikipedia includes all ...

Re: Conference Realignment
I actually think it will be a mistake for UMass to join CUSA if Charlie Baker's plan goes through in some shape or form. Why? CUSA won't be 1-A. Neither will the MAC or Sun Belt.

Re: Conference Realignment
Matt Brown (Extra Points) believes it is likely that UMass is #12. He is really plugged in with mid-major realignment. I assume it is an all-sports deal.

Re: Realignment: Texas/OK->SEC; UCF, BYU, Ciny,Houston->BigXII-dominos
November is going to be a big month in realignment: I can feel it.
First up is the NEC. Down to 7 members (and just 5 full Division 1 members), the league needs to add at least one full time Division 1 member. That is where Chicago State comes in. Although there has been some talk about a ...

Re: The football future poll
Why wouldn't UConn join C-USA or the MAC for football only? Staying indy is a bad option. I've lurked over on the boneyard and I see many posts saying that you guys should schedule 5 or 6 H/H with P4 schools and then a couple G5 schools. Hate to break it to you but that ain't happening . If it ...

The football future poll
Let me preface by saying I am a UConn fan so I really don't care what you guys do. However, I noticed you do not have a poll for your (Steve's) MAC discussion. I will mention I put a poll on the Boneyard regarding UConn's conference affiliation for football (independent vs. MAC/CUSA football-only ...

Re: Realignment: Texas/OK->SEC; UCF, BYU, Ciny,Houston->BigXII-dominos
Join CUSA with Delaware. The league is only one step down in basketball from the A-10. Playing smaller schools is a con, but if you are that worried about your football situation, CUSA seems like the least bad option.

Re: 🗣 UMass to the MAC: Dedicated Thread
1. Our stadium is on campus, remember that?
2. UConn avoided us for years. We won’t have room on our schedule for you. Good luck.
3. The goal is to dominate MAC hoops, not rely on an at-large.
4. We can schedule big home games out of conference like Gonzaga does, but to a smaller degree ...

Re: 🗣 UMass to the MAC: Dedicated Thread
Disclaimer: I am a UConn fan. Now that we have gotten that out of the way:
I think UMass joining the MAC for all sports would be a massive mistake. Here are the reasons:
1. At least two of your home games will be on a Tuesday or Wednesday. If you think you have attendance problems now….
