Re: 2022 Recruiting
I've taken a hard look at the players we lost compared to the new additions. When you match them up against each other it doesn't look as pretty as I would like. First, I love the hire of Frank Martin and I think his coaching and better D should get us a few more wins. However, take a look at this ...

Re: 2022 Recruiting
Agreed, if G Thompson can contribute Day 1 then they should be OK with the front court. Ya it would be nice to have another big that could shoot but it's unrealistic to expect Frank to have a complete roster top to bottom year 1. Hard to get 3 bigs that can play to UMass in 1 offseason. With the foc...

Re: 2022 Recruiting
For those Twitter literate- Frank retweeted Wildens giving N’Guessan the eyes emoji. Now I don’t want to get too far into
this, but I will just a little to say I don’t think Frank is doing that unless he feels good about his chances of landing him.

Re: 2022 Recruiting
I think Dominguez has potential. If Frank could instill confidence and toughness, he has the size and talent to be at least a solid backup 3/4. Personally, I highly doubt that. But, regardless, do you think Martin "ran off" Dibaji and Cairo and Garcia etc etc etc and decided that Domingue...

Re: 2023 Recruiting
Just did a little reading on Miranda. He plays at Springfield Commonwealth but he's from Pawtucket.
If a kids got dreams of playing at a Kentucky/Duke/UNC/Arizona etc. he's not going to consider UMass right out of high school.

Re: 2022 Recruiting
I'd also like to see a freshmen big. Hard to imagine 4 year players anymore, but if for some chance those still exist it'd be good to pair a classmate with Thompson.
I really like the sound of Lewis, big bodied 2 guard that's shown some success at the college level already.

Re: 2022 Recruiting
Lee is a similar player for Davidson and has been very successful in the A10. Watanabe for GW a few years back too.

Re: 2022 Recruiting
I find it very interesting that Frank said he won't run anyone off but has his sights on at least 3 more guys (although maybe he's not planning on taking all 3) while the team is at the scholarship limit. If it's already been determined that other guys are leaving, I wonder why they're waiting so lo...

Re: Expectations for 2022/2023 Season
I'll wait on a vote until the final roster is set and we see a schedule. My hope right now is that we can be in the top 75 in RPI. Last year in the Ken Pom ratings we finished #185, which was behind Fordham. No more of that. That's a good way to think of success for UMass. I think baseline, we shou...

Re: 2022-23 roster
Just need CJ to come off the bench and hit ~40% from 3. He shot it great the first half of the season and then fell off a cliff. At least this year there should be more options (Cairo, Thompson, Diggins) if CJ isn't shooting well.

Re: 2022-23 roster
A10 is going to be tough this year and if UMass is in the top tier of teams, whether that be top 4, 5, 6, I think we'll be real happy. I'm not thinking top 25, but I'd say they've got the talent of a potential top 25 team. The players need to buy in to the system and play as team if they're going to...

Re: 2022-23 roster
This is getting kinda crazy. Never would've believed all these guys would have joined the program but Frank's making it look easy. Expectations for next year? Top 4?

Re: 2022-23 roster
Biggest question on my mind heading into this year and beyond: Can Frank bring about roster continuity? That was one of the biggest hurdles MM couldn't get over in his bid for success. Players like Diggins, Thompson(s), and Woodley haven't gotten much playing time at the college level but they all s...
