Re: Game 17, 2021-22: Saint Louis (1/20)

Also, at least one of his assistants tried to talk him out of taking 3 of the 4 transfers he took in the first 2 months they were on the job but he wasn’t listening and that was the start of where the program is as a whole right now. I am not sharing these things now to pile on but, since I believe...

Re: Replacements for McCall

Is there anything legitimate connecting Archie to UMass? Seems like it's simply based on him being unemployed and having previously been in the A10, so sort of a Travis Ford situation. I think we're the only ones talking about Miller to Umass so I don't think there's anything legitimate. For me, he...

Re: Replacements for McCall

Perhaps UMass could get away with backloading the 5-year contract to the last 3 years. But even then how much per year could they scrap together? And the buyout language would have to be worded very carefully. Bamford would have to be one crafty guy to make UMass look compelling. But I don't think ...

Re: Replacements for McCall

John Gallagher from UHart D. Killings from Albany Keith Smart AC at Arkansas Just so everyone knows the next coach will be the guy currently at Drexel. He played with our ad at IC. Watch and see Bamford isn't stupid enough to even suggest Spiker, and there's no way the UMass admin would go along wi...

It's virtually impossible for anyone to eclipse the trainwreck that was John McCutcheon.

Re: Replacements for McCall

^not agreeing or disagreeing, just curious as to why you're so against Bruiser coming back? - He has a ton of experience at all sorts of different levels (head coach, assistant, low major, high major) - Familiar with UMass - He's at what I consider to be a great age (not so young that he's green, a...

Fuck no.

Bruiser didn't get a fair shake here the last time around, but he's not the answer.

Since I apparently lack to ability to understand you on here, can you explain to me what this is supposed to mean?

Who is "we" here?

Re: Replacements for McCall

^ The phrasing in your post made me wonder if you thought the names had been linked to the UMass position in any meaningful way.

These are just names people are throwing out, we don't know what Bamford is planning, or if he's even going to fire McCall.

Re: Replacements for McCall

Had to look up Gates cause I'm not too familiar with him. His buyout is $600,000 right now but if the school president or AD leave then it drops to $100,000 ( source ). So clearly we should replace Bamford with their AD and then grab their coach as well. Miller though is out of basketball and...

Re: Replacements for McCall

^ Do you have any idea how much money it would take to a) lure them away from where they are, and b) buyout their existing contract to allow them to leave, and 3) to outbid other teams who are also interested in them?

Re: Replacements for McCall

Calipari, Rick Pitino, Archie Miller, and Dennis Gates, are not realistic options.

Re: Replacements for McCall

I'll start out by saying that Carvel & Verdi should be put on the search committee. I don't know much about potential candidates, but based on their HC resumes and bios, 4 names that seem realistic & intriguing are Bashir Mason, Martin Ingelsby, Mitch Henderson, and Matt Langel. I'm in no po...

Are we sure that waivers exist anymore, at all?
