Re: The football future poll

I was hoping to see a 4th option in this poll: Return to the FCS level. I don't understand why considering it is so taboo. Someone explain it to me. Seriously, I'm willing to listen. The answer is simple and has been discussed many times. It's more profitable to the University along a number of dim...

Re: The football future poll

Rolling Ridge ask why now. Besides the decline in the A10, new Chancellor, expanded College Playoffs, and 8 years of looking starts looking bad if you can't get your program in a conference.... Just to be clear, I never asked, "why now?" I'm 100% for getting into a football conference ASA...

Re: The football future poll

Umass needs to do something. The music in this round of musical conference chairs is about to stop and the number of open chairs is not in their favor. That line of thinking (underlined above) is the exact paralyzing reason nobody will pull the trigger in this fucking administration. THERE ARE NO W...

Re: The football future poll

Everyone seems to still be dancing around the obvious problem - NOBODY wants Umass. I don't believe that's true. I think CUSA or the MAC would take us if we went in all sports, with CUSA being more likely and increasingly looking like the most viable and intriguing option. The holdup seems to be th...

Re: The football future poll

I'd prefer an option for "Any Football Conference." This! I can't vote for MAC over CUSA, or vice versa, or for some other conference, because I don't know all the ins-and-outs of the deals, impact on travel, blah, blah, blah. I leave that up to the AD, and while I know some will disagree...

Re: 2023 Game 10: Merrimack - Homecoming

It took 1 fucking hour to get from The Hangar parking lot (11:30) to our Stadium Drive parking spot (12:30). Unacceptable. That is obscene. We hit some traffic coming from the garage after the Chancellor's breakfast, but it was 11:30 and we got through pretty fast. Still, we wondered why cars were ...

Re: 2023 Game 10: Merrimack - Homecoming

Not the performance I was hoping for, but I'll take the win. Way too many penalties. They need to learn to keep their composure better and not take dumb personal foul penalties, especially against a team like Merrimack. It's been a problem since we moved up under all our coaches. I'm not sure what t...

Re: 2023 Game 9: @ West Point

The chancellor made the trip to West Point. Hopefully it's not just a first year, first impression type thing but genuinely appreciate his effort in athletics Wow. I'm also really pleased by this. I'll thank Chancellor Reyes personally when I see him next Saturday. I'm also thrilled by this unexpec...

Re: Time for a Positivity Reboot from the great one..

We can lament about the location but the bigger issue is the vast majority of alumni have ZERO pride in the school. I don't think it's that alums have zero pride, but rather that historically, the school hasn't given them many ways to express that pride. Until about 2009 or so, development and outr...

Re: 2023 Season

I will never leave this ship even if I am the last man standing.. We did close the talent gap a great deal with the past two years of recruiting and should be 3-4 right now so it sucks that they blew the EMICH and New Mex games (shoulda won both easily). shitty officiating hurt in the MIami game (H...

Oops, sorry. I got mixed up in all those embedded quotes. I edited my original reply to more accurately reflect who said what.

Re: 2023 Season

I don't believe the cause of increased applications is correlated to football. That's a very messy statement. There absolutely is a correlation between increased applications to UMass and the move to FBS. It's highly questionable whether the move to FBS caused the increased applications. Correlatio...

Re: 2023 Game 5: New Mexico

Wow! my bandwagon just experienced a 100% growth rate.. any other takers? I do think there are others who secretly are on that bandwagon though.. My heart is on the bandwagon, but my head has been run over by the bandwagon enough that I'm tempering my expectations. My biggest fear at this point is ...

Re: 🗣 UMass to the MAC: Dedicated Thread

You seem to be hung up on the words "Support" and "Care" (or interest). One does not necessarily equate to the other. This is exactly the point I was trying to make. I argued that you can care about the team, but not necessarily support them by going to games, and that not going...

Re: 🗣 UMass to the MAC: Dedicated Thread

If the failed Gillette experiment did not say all that needs to be said, nothing will. Eastern part of the state does not really care unless Umass is REALLY good. I'm not sure I agree with this. I think there was some excitement for this at first and I remember some well attended games (Vandy, for ...
