Re: 2024-25 Season
Giving this a bump. 6:00 game time for all those interested, I'm going to try to make it. We'll see how the timing of the after-work shuffle plays out.

Re: Who should stay, who should go
Since UMass is going to be handling the bulk of NIL going forward, will their NIL contracts be made available publicly? *Eldon, the top talent in the MAC is legit. There are real dudes playing in that league and when they eventually transfer, plenty of them end up being contributors on big time team...

Re: Around the A10, 2024-2025
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Kent St going into Olean and beating the snot out of St Bonaventure. There is definitely some good basketball being played and coached at the top of the MAC. Unfortunately the bottom is so bad that it drags down everybody's computer rankings. But I'm coming around on th...

The tournament is covered by the ESPN family of networks. If you click the link in my original post and scroll down below the bracket, game times and TV channels are listed.

Re: Around the A10, 2024-2025
The 2024 A10 championship game in Brooklyn between VCU and Duquesne had 7,805 in attendance, 2023 they had 8,162 for VCU and Dayton. The MAC championship had 7,099 in attendance this year, 7,955 in 2024, and 8,375 in 2023. So attendance for the MAC championship was less than the A10 this year, but p...

Re: Pat Kelsey
Pitino is a big time coach, one of the very best to EVER do it. Why would he come coach a middling A10 team? He was using Iona as a springboard to vault himself back to the top. Rick Pitino is very savvy and one hell of a coach.

Re: Coach Frank Martin
In the moment / at the moment it made some sense to bring him back. As (I think Mike) noted, Umass was coming off it's first 20+ win season in a long time. They knew the MAC thing by then and Frank was still willing to sign on for it. They guy is nuts, but he would be the biggest name known in MAC....

Re: NCAA Tournament
The NIT is basically the A10 tournament. SLU, St Joes, Dayton, Mason, Loyola Chi, and St Bonaventure are in the field. The MAC got Kent St in, matched up against St Bonaventure. Other NIT games of interest: Matt Cross' SMU team is a 1-seed, Ronnie DeGray (remember him?) and Wichita St face OK St, an...

Re: MAC Sports topics that include Hoops
Mike, how do you explain South Carolina being a top 100 school? They won 2 conference games. Seems to me that their ranking was 100% a byproduct of conference affiliation and not remotely performance related. Play a tough schedule, lose nearly all the games, "earn" a decent ranking. That's...

Re: MAC Sports topics that include Hoops
The new NET was created to make the power conferences look better but stinks as a true metric. The NET is a horrible metric. Akron, who won all year is 91, decent but not great. A few spots ahead at 87 is South Carolina, who only won 12 games all year, and only 2 in conference. The fact that they p...

Goody, the period is on the lower right of the keyboard, right between the comma and question mark. Much easier to type because you don't need to hit the shift button like you do with the exclamation mark. How do you suggest that we recruit "some luck". Hoping to get lucky is not a strateg...

Sure. I have no idea what the issue with Chaz is and I'm not going to ask. I just know that he wants to be involved with the program.
Who are your suggestions?

Damn straight. If there's anyone out there that can relate to today's players, it's Eldon.

Re: Portal MBB 2025
We've entered the "shiny new object" phase of the basketball season. Every player that we look at is going to look as good or better than what we have. I agree that we need some overhaul, but I'm also wondering what value continuity and familiarity with each other and the staff has. Frank ...

Re: 2025-26 Season
I know the department won't do it because they're too many steps behind on everything, but it seems like having a GM is the future of college basketball. Who are the UMass basketball alums that are involved in the game and can relate to today's players? Chaz seems to want to be involved in the progr...
