Re: Taj Mahal

I started in the Class of 62, same as Buffy Sainte-marie. I think Taj there my Freshman year, for sure my first Sophomore year. Always get some reaction from music fanatics when I mention "... yeah, I want to school with Buffy Sainte-marie and Taj Mahal." I'm pretty sure Buffy and Taj used...

Re: Don Brown

Please stop advocating for former UMASS coaches and assistant coaches to lead UMASS. It didn't work with Whipple, Bruiser or Kellogg. UMASS needs to find coaches who want to be here (at least for a little while). Clearly Brown did not want to be here anymore (great while he was in Amherst). As far ...

It's kind of a contract isn't it? If we show up, and they won't play, do we still get the $$$$ ?

Re: 2020 Season

“ The Big Ten is expected to announce today that it will go with a conference-only football schedule for this fall, a person with direct knowledge situation tells @TheAthleticCFB.” Our athletic department is in trouble if football is in the fall but we can’t play any buy games, right? How about no ...

Re: Trivia for the off season

Yes, it's probably Jeff, but my first thought brought a smile: Travis said that Papa Lo "played like he was 7'5". Peter Bernard, one of my all-time favorites, was listed at 5'8" which is shorter than the 5'9" listing for Chaz. Peter was a scorer in bunches in the early 60's. The...

Re: A-10 / Mountain West Challenge

^ might be better to be included. But I wouldn't sign up to change places with Duquense, who gets to visit Wyoming (potentially awful trip) and probably play at the same time as Dayton plays at Nevada. Maybe Duquense-Wyoming will be televised, who knows. I don't think I'd want any of the road games...

Re: Pitino to UMass

I'm glad this is just idle speculation since it would be the worst idea for UMASS if they actually were considering it. To paraphrase a quote- when someone reveals themselves to you believe it. He has revealed himself as a self-centered, unethical jerk. Yeah, but he'd be our self-centered, unethica...

Re: KAEO Unique McLean (2016)

I haven't been able to watch a TV game for a month or so - but do take a look at every box score. So, here's this guy who was buried on the bench and the subject of transfer talk early in the season - now getting 30+ minutes of PT/game. He's not scoring much. Must be bringing something to the table....

Re: A 10/MT WEST Chalange

At least one MW team is not totally on board: https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/aztecs/sd-sp-sdsu-basketball-a10-challenge-mountain-west-20181220-story.html Unfortunately, it's my current home-town team - which I'd really like to see against A10 teams, particularly UMass. My hope is that t...

Re: Walt Bell

I graduated in 1996 but always heard how great the Drake was. Can one of you old timers indicate what made it that enjoyable? Then back to football. Thanks, As an addendum to 11's question, how many of us tripped and stumbled down the stairs at least once? I was far more likely to trip and stumble ...

Re: Walt Bell

As a previous poster noted - if he leaves after 2-3 years it will probably be because he produced at least one good season - sign me up! Back to square one if he leaves? Not necessarily. I've got two data points, about 50 years apart. In the early 60's Chuck Studley came in and jump started what had...

Re: Game 5, 2018-2019 Arkansas Pine-Bluff 11/19/18

Got a freeby from a friend for the San Diego State game. They (APB) have a smooth guard named Martaveous McKnight who dropped 29 on a pretty good defensive team. He was worth the price of admission.

Re: 2018-2019 Schedule and beyond

Think the A10 will agree? There must have already been discussions with them and the ACC and Big East aren’t on line 2. I hope so! Mountain West has historically had some pretty good teams. I feel like the A10 would have more to lose than the MW, right? My recollection is that, in recent years, it ...
