Re: Time for a new coach
Suppose we go 1-1 in our last 2 and lock up the 8 seed. We play Miami in the 1st round and get beat by 10-15 points. Seems like a pretty likely scenario. Frank gets fired. His son decides to go somewhere else. I would assume Frank wants to watch his son play. I've personally had 2 children play ...

Re: How former UMass players have fared after entering the portal
Lewis Walker update...
He continues to impress. He leads his team and is 5th in the CAA in scoring average, at 19.1 ppg. He just set NC A&T's freshman scoring record:

Re: New Head Coach in 2030
I could see Adam in a Football GM role....he's a sharp guy, good personality. He's lived it at the highest level at Penn State and seen our deficiencies up close and personal. He knows our program, the northeast and he has credibility in spades as a former player.

Re: Game 12, 2025-26: Kent State (12/20)
Thanks folks... Carl Spackler brought it up here again and has been called out. Lets give him the opportunity here, or if he wants to create his own thread, to answer his own questions and/or solve his issues.
IV, I don't pretend to have the answers, I have no connection to the team. I watch ...

Re: Game 12, 2025-26: Kent State (12/20)
i'll go back to my lament that we have done a poor job retaining talented players to the portal. Lewis Walker is averaging over 18 a night, nearly 6 boards while shooting over 51%....he never dressed last season, this is his first year of college basketball. I assume he practiced and based on ...

Re: Game 12, 2025-26: Kent State (12/20)
others have pointed out how I've felt these last several games...the starting lineup lacks outside shooters...other than Banks a well coached team can pack the paint, face guard Banks, switch all screens and make it very difficult for him to get comfortable, open shots. In the last 5 games that ...

Re: Game 11, 2025-26: Florida State in Sunrise FL (12/13)
Great win....always things to clean up but looked really good for stretches today. Very balanced got a lot of points from DHS, Parker, Banks and Bettiol. Love what we're seeing from Clerc, has a nose for the ball, as soon as he gets a little more comfortable/acclimated he should be a nice big off ...

FSU on a 3 game losing streak and it has not been pretty....lost at home to Texas A&M by 36, at home to Georgia by 34 and at Houston by 15...ugly.

Re: How former UMass players have fared after entering the portal

And Cohen is an example of someone that left that didn't do better.
In the preportal era we had many transfers shown out in Amherst…..Chaz, Dante Milligan, Gary Forbes, to name a few. This list is pretty long. DHS is somewhat of a weird but accurate current example, too.
Will Herndon ...

Re: How former UMass players have fared after entering the portal
Honestly I don’t want to belabor this topic but for a program that has been squarely mediocre for years we seem to have a number of guys that have transferred and flourished. The country is full of impact transfers but how does an underperforming program like UMass have 6 or 7 guys making huge ...

Re: How former UMass players have fared after entering the portal
Malek was terrible here… seems like he got some stats Im a blowout loss which doesn’t change my opinion.
Disagree. He’s played well all season. He played timid and scared last season. John Calipari said coaching is learning who you have to put your arms around and who you have to kick in the ...

Re: How former UMass players have fared after entering the portal
Another very efficient, productive night for Abdelgowad....18 minutes, 17 pts on 5-7 shooting against high level competition...lost at Texas 95-69. Averaging 10 pts and 8 boards a night in only 17 mpg...shooting over 60%.

Re: How former UMass players have fared after entering the portal
All due respect to the guys that have left, and I appreciate their contributions, but I'm just fine with no longer having Abdelgowad, Rivera, and Robert Davis. Malek wasn't a good fit, Rivera is too poor a shooter and decision-maker to make up for his heart and hustle, and Davis is a volume scorer ...

Re: How former UMass players have fared after entering the portal
Understand that portal transferring is prevalent everywhere....but there are many players that do stay at the same school for 3+ years....we even have a few like DHS and Ndjigue
That said, i believe Frank’s personality runs off a lot of quality players.
Imagine this roster:
C - Leo, Abdelgowad
