If the difference between Ed Nelson going to UConn and going to UMass is Lappas' loyalty to Paul Hewitt, then I am even less interested in Steve Lappas continuing as coach at UMass than I was before. Since I am confident that it is definitely not the case though, I think it is a ridiculous pre-empti...

I said "COMPETITIVE EFFORTS" not wins. No you didn't. You said: Faded? They actually started playing their better ball late in the year. That was proven to be a completely incaccurate assessment of what actually transpired. And now you are saying things like: The RI and St Joe's games cou...

They played their best ball of the season in the Rider-Marshall-NC State stretch which were games 9, 10 and 11, all before the conference season even started. UMass went 5-12 after the NC State win. They lost their last 4 games of the season, starting with a 42 point drubbing to Temple and ending wi...

I'd like to see well-prepared game plans, effective in-game adjustments, wins against teams they should beat, hard fought games against teams they shouldn't, a feeling that the team cares about winning or even trying to win and some positive development by the majority, if not all, the players on th...

"I watched them win a preseason NIT" When? "They weren't on that much during the Bruiser era" Yes they were. "Lappas came in here to rebuild, not to get an underachieving team to the NCAA's" Actually, Flint was removed and replaced by a veteran coach to immediately impr...

10-18 against D1.

And probably would have been 10-19 if St. Bonny didn't quit.

it's just having some what of an understanding of what little he's had to work with and to trash him for his record after two years makes no sense. Makes no sense to you perhaps, but to others it makes perfect sense. Lappas' record id what it is. The first two years have been disappointing on and o...

Olsen's teams also haven't missed the tournament 7 times in the past 11 seasons as Lappas' teams have. It's tough to get 2nd chances in the dance when you only get invited to participate a third of the time. I'm impressed that Lappas put in the effort to answer questions on a fan site. Hopefully thi...

I probably wouldn't repeat my position as often as I do if it weren't so blatantly misrepresented in attacks on me. I don't hate Lappas, I just don't want UMass basketball to continue to flounder under him and I have no faith in his ability to dig himself out of the hole he dug and given his uninspi...

I don't think the last coach was a winning coach, I just think that UMass should show some improvement in three seasons. And I don't mean from one year to the next, I mean from the time the new coach was brought on. I don't think it should be accepetable if UMass is still performing worse at the end...

Kosty, would you care to articulate exactly what about Steve Lappas' performance at UMass and his track record at Villanova has you so firmly in his corner that you'd rather not hear any criticism? Have I misrepresented his record? Am I twisting facts to suit my position? Am I misleading anyone by o...

Miagi, I believe that after the third season, we can evaluate where UMass is in relation to when Lappas was hired. I think three seasons is reasonable and fair to expect the program to get back to where it was before he was hired (especially since he was hired to improve things here from day 1). I'm...

No. I will share my thoughts however and whenever I see fit. And I will remain civil through it all and it will just have to offend your sensibilites. My take is that UMass needs to make a change because Lappas is not (nor was he ever) a coach worth enduring terrible seasons for and if I feel like c...
