Re: Game 16, 2021-22: Rhode Island (1/15)

The crowd was really OLD for a college basketball game - the majority of attendees seemed to be at 55-75, undoubtedly hoping for days long gone. A few parents with grade-schoolers. maybe 100 of college-age, tops. The arena was as dead as I have ever seen. Even the 'dance team' seemed uninterested. ...

Re: Game 16, 2021-22: Rhode Island (1/15)

Quick search says he was extended through 2022. Here we are!!! 3 months and change. "Bamford’s original five-year deal took him from his hiring on April 27, 2015 to April 26, 2020. The extension goes until April 26, 2022." https://www.umass.edu/archivenewsoffice/article/ryan-bamford-earns-...

Re: Game 16, 2021-22: Rhode Island (1/15)

I do not see any grand conspiracy against UM or for BC, which is also in the doldrums in most M sports.

We are fully capable of shooting ourselves in the foot, using a repeating rifle.

Re: Game 16, 2021-22: Rhode Island (1/15)

^^^^^^ Excellent analysis. MM played URI's game without their height and lateral speed. Lots of missed layups. Not enough 3 pointer launching against a team where that was really the only path for competitiveness. We are bereft of a game underneath. Those Mitchell brothers are a force playing togeth...

Re: Game 16, 2021-2022: Rhode Island (01/15)

Thanks to Signman, I'll be there and am bringing a buddy. It is all about being good with 3's with this team, as they will throw them up regardless of shooting success, 15% or 48%. Looks like much of their scoring comes from the 2 Mitchells - at 6 foot nine and ten respectively. Could be a mismatch ...

Our bigs are 3's and 4's, especially Buttrick. Steadman has practically no O game. Too many easy baskets with good passing and lots of cutting, as noted above.

Re: Attendance figures

As one of the folks who stood outside the Cage for hours in snowstorms, and that wonderful trip to see us beat Missou in NIT, I appreciate all you wrote. Great post Coach.

Re: UMass - Michigan News

UMass was overmatched. And, the O is much weaker than last year. Unless "Q" continues to win, looks like the Mid-West teams dominate NCAA bids this year.

No progress in expanding the CFP beyond 4 teams - lots of issues associated with Power 5 leaders getting automatic bids, among other issues. Talks ended this pm, after 2 days in Indianapolis. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/33035877/college-football-playoff-leaders-fail-agree-expand...

Re: Attendance figures

It is one thing to reach out to the local community in "normal times. These are not. Young families are paranoid about COVID, and rightly so - many are loath to bring children to school. Outdoors activities on weekends will trump indoor right now. In the longer run, community engagement to buil...
