Re: 2025 Season
The Buffalo loss affected us all. Perhaps some of the players as well.

Re: 2026 Season
Went over to the Rhody board to see what they thought of Thorr's hire, which will be the focus of improvements for the 2026 season and beyond.
Steve,
I think it was a brilliant move by UMass to hire Thorr
The URI football program was in very bad shape before Thorr came on and before Thorr hired Jim ...

Re: Ryan Bamford
If you're making your decision on where to play football based on what a few fans are saying on a message board instead of actual football decisions, like the coach, the facilities, dining, education, etc., then you're probably too thin skinned and not cut out for competitive football.
In ...

Re: 2026 Season
Other than that, what steps can be taken to make us a destination that quality players will come to? I don't know if there is a quick fix to that and we need a VERY QUICK fix. Maybe it's money, so I hope there is a lot available for NIL.
It's not a quick fix and cannot be look at as such ...

Re: Game 12 - Bowling Green - 11/25
Went to yesterdays game with a few friends, who have not been in years. One thought the stadium look really good, but he is a spend thrift. Both had a good time and want to come back to this game. I'll let them know about the time change.

Re: Ryan Bamford
you seriously complaining about where a thread is listed? Come on Steve, who cares.
Potential recruits will visit this forum, but will almost never go to Other Sports / UM Athletic General discussions.
So negative stuff about the AD, who is general in charge of UMass Athletics goes here.
The ...

Re: 2025 Season
UMass has and had structural issues and the administration has accepted and acted. After the season on Dec 1st, a new Sr. Deputy AD will start. He has been URI AD for the past 18 years and is specifically hired to address the situation. Thorr Bjorn is a people person, said all the same things at his ...

Re: Ryan Bamford
UConn being in the Big East and National Champions explains the BB salary. While football is also second class at UConn, it knows a Power conference invite is dependent on football. Therefore, they are spending 50% more than UMass. 50% higher is not an insignificant amount. It was 1M higher in past ...

Re: Ryan Bamford
I know many of you throw up your hands at the results to date and ask, why bother. Where do you expect UMass to be in 5 years if we stayed in a revenue limited A10. Winning the conference, which is something we have not done since Cal was the coach 3 decades ago.

Re: Ryan Bamford
Eldon, really going back in time with that worse ever list. Maybe we can narrow it down to ‘BCS’ era. But I do recall those Temple 90’s teams. That has always been my worst team ever comp.
The Umass 2019 is right there but that one win really gives them some credit. That defense was all time ...

Re: Game 10, 2025: Northern Illinois (11/12)
How much more does one need to donate in order to qualify for Hunt Hospitality Suite Passes? ..... I checked... My pithy MVP level donation wasn't All American level which is what is needed for passes to the Hunt Hospitality Suite.
$2,500 for 2 passes as long as you have matching ST as ...

I was thinking of driving out to the Happy Valley for this battle of MAC Juggernauts. .... subject to the weather. How cold are we talking? 30's..... might keep me open my couch and skipping the 3.5 hr round trip.
Too early for the 48 hourly forecast, but it's 43 degrees with a SW wind 10-15 ...

Re: 2025 Season
Well going last year with no FBS wins is not a great draw. Perhaps some of the other first year coaches had a foundation and some where not replacing the whole staff. The 46 to 48 portal guys all entered before Coach H took the job and he kept the other guys, including TY Harding, who went out for ...

Re: 2025 Season
After Patriots game question to you. JLH, in the last 40 years, how many of all those UMass coaches have good first year. Not many. Most started building year 2.
Coach H first major task was keeping players left, which he did. Second was to build his coaching staff. Then recruit very late.

Re: Thorr Bjorn
Did UMass announce a reduction in Bamfords salary to offset Thorr taking over some of his duties?? Yeah.. didn't think so... gotta love UMass.. won't give a long time valued employee a 10k raise to stay because it's a boots on the ground job.. but will pay a guy 400k to do a job your AD can't do ...
