His talent might have resulted in positive results here, but he was always going to struggle at a higher level unless he really worked hard to improve. The results over the last 2 years shows he didn't put in the effort to overcome the lack of "basketball IQ," as the kids say these days.

Adding to LS' comment about scoring, this was mentioned in the broadcast last night:
-UMass is 19-1-3 when scoring 3+ goals.
-Including last night, UMass is 1-11-2 when scoring 2 or less.

No. This isn't a defense of Lappas' time here, but the 80s triumvirate prior to Cal (sorry, Tom...) was worse.

Joleon's numerous, "on the money" suggestions are perfect. Martin's nepotism, terrible coaching, lack of respect for his young players, and terrible recruiting, teaching, and in game coaching strategy has ruined a once proud program. Worst coach in history of UMass basketball! Whoa there....

Well, just did some digging. The WBIT is actually NCAA backed, seems like that is the 2nd tournament with WNIT 3rd. No longer a WBI I guess.
