Re: 2024 Game 3: @ Buffalo

Don't like this RB-by-committee appraoch. Campbell to me is the clear best runner. Passes the eye test. Have him be the primary guy and spell him with Jalen John in short yardage.

Re: 2024 Game 3: @ Buffalo

Puma is not the same since the injury. He looks slow. Completely lost all his explosiveness as a runner.

Re: 2024 Game 3: @ Buffalo

Year after year it's the same thing: undisciplined, boneheaded penalties. Horrible kicking and special teams. I mean, I'd say it's the coach but it has transcended the head coach since about Kevin Morris era. Every single year. It defies comprehension. I don't get it.

You are asking this question after 3 drives, and 1 TD? Give me a break. And so far the answer is yes.

Re: 2023-24 Season

I know absolutely nothing about him, but hey, welcome to UMass! I'd love to get a scouting report on this guy. Is he a tactician, a stats and computer geek, a solid recruiter? It looks like he and McCall might have had some overlap at Florida, Nelson as a player and McCall as a student manager ...

Last PG from Hofstra that transferred to UMass worked out pretty good

Re: Updates on Former UMass Players Still Playing College Ball

We should have hired Micah Shrewsberry back in 2017. I was screaming for it. He wanted to come here. Nope, Bumfield hired McCall. Guy can coach and has his team dancing.

Re: Updates on Former UMass Players Still Playing College Ball

Mitchell hasn't really improved at all in 4 years. Can't believe some folks thought he was an NBA draft pick

Re: Game 6: Liberty (Pride Day)

Gotta clean up the penalties. But this team has vastly improved the last 2 weeks. This is a very good Liberty team we are hanging with.

I gotta say, some of the posts here are absolute trash. Calling to fire DB, etc. etc. Yes, the penalties are not great. But no wonder this program struggles so ...

Re: 2023 Recruiting

Robert Davis Jr did a vlog on his visit to Umass. Kid seems to have some confidence, nice thing to see. I wish we got to see behind the curtain a little more when it came to things like this.

Re: Game Five: EMU

Punting has been good.

Really need to get back to what was working. The QB Keeper. We were rolling in the first half. Now trying to get too cute with the pass. Get back to the bread and butter, QB option read.

Re: Game Five: EMU

EMU averages 30+ points per game. Shutting them out for a half is very impressive. It's classic Don Brown. Shame some of the shit folks were saying about him and this team after 2 or 3 games.

Lets keep it going. Cut down the penalties and leave Ypsilanti with the W.

Re: Return of Derek Kellogg?

Remember DK is what ~2 years from collecting a state pension with 10 years service? Move makes a lot of sense for him. I expect him to stay for a couple years then move on. His kid is in HS by now too, no?

I like the move fwiw. Unorthodox? Yes. But DK knows the university, knows the region and ...

I’m seeing in the major sports, mens and womens, is a bunch of white males. This is a big problem) but here’s to hoping Frank Martin brings us back to the dance, and soon!

Putting your absurd bias against white males aside for the moment, fyi, Coach Martin is Cuban.

Re: Coach Frank Martin

Decent hire and I’m cautiously optimistic given the parallels to Steve Lappas who had a similar profile coming here.I would have liked Schmidt more and I would have liked some indication that we interviewed and considered minority candidates (has Bamford EVER hired a minority head coach in any sport ...
