If Cleveland State was such a deep team, how the hell did they finish 10-21 and why was their coach fired? This isn't related to Walker at all, but just trying to stick with the facts and avoid hyperbole. I guess they could have been a deep team of mediocre players.
They were a 10 deep rotation, similar to us last year. I guess you can say, the same type of role Samba and Sy had for us last year is what Walker had for Cleveland State. The team also gave up on their coach, hence why everyone transferred and they only have 4 or 5 players on scholarship right now.
So basically the same thing that happened here in terms of many on the team seemingly giving up on the coach.
Okay so, true; to make things more clear, the same way I’m happy about getting Walker as a transfer, is the same way Cleveland State would be about getting Chatman.

Most teams would be happy to have Chatman at some level.

I don't know about most teams, but I know I sure am glad to have him. He'll be more comfortable, more physically ready, and able to play in his true position this year. I expect a very nice year from Sy.

Sy and Tre could be a very nice combo in the frontcourt. Both look to have the ability to hit the midrange shot and both can rebound. They also are pretty mobile. Tre looks to have some nice passing skills as well. As Sy gets physically stronger he'll be even better on the glass, and we've seen his ability to blick some shots. Two good, young frontcourt players. Djery will also be a good complimentory player up front, but we definitely need some more size next year

I think with KTM’s knee issue (and also his inability to really carve out a role for himself even when healthy) we could use another big for next year (and the years to follow). That said, with the way the game has been heading (and some would say it has already arrived) and the level we are at, I would much rather have kids with a little less size if it means they can actually play vs kids with size who are limited in skill or mobility (or both).

I think Sy will benefit greatly having Tre at the 5. Most teams will have to send help on Tre leaving some space for Sy to use his athletic ability. I agree that we ought to prioritize a big for 2020 (not easy to find good bigs). If KTM isn't able to get back close to 100% by next year it will force Sy back to playing the 5. I spoke to 2 of the assistant coaches at the practice last week and they both said that Sy was much more comfortable at the 4. That was pretty obvious for anyone who watched the team last year.

For this year, Djery should be fine as a backup to Tre but when he leaves we have a hole to fill.

Remember when we had 6'7" Harper Williams as our "center". We won a few games then. It is all about attitude.

MM said KTM was on track to possibly graduate at the end of this year, and then reading between the lines I think he'll probably transfer out. I think there's also the possibility that Keon will grad transfer out... leaving UMass with at least 3 scholarships to fill for 2020 (2 are already filled).

Transfer twice for Keon? What makes you think that?

^^^ because the amount to schollies they are looking to give out. It would be a grad transfer so he doesn't have to sit out.. I don't think its that uncommon these days.

I used to play in the adult men's league against him at Smith Voke - holy shit could he jump. It was one thing watching from the stands, but when you have him jumping over you on the floor to take a rebound from you - it was a whole new perspective.

I could still get up to the rim (not dunk - just my finger tips) and that crazy bastard would just "appear" above me and take the ball before it even got to my hands....

Watching him play - Fun
Playing against him - notsomuch
