Game 1: Boston University

Post by Marshmont_63 » Mon Oct 06, 2014 1:02 am

Making the trek from Chestnut Hill for this game. Should be a good one. Hard to get a sense of how good either team is considering all of the new/impact freshman both teams brought in. Who else is going? A win here would not only be a great way to start off the season, but will surely convince fans to come back for more games against lesser-known opponents later this year. Hopefully, it'll be sold out. LET'S GO UMASS!! #MassUp

The question is, how many points will Jack Eichel put up? A UMass win here would be a great way to start the season, but Eichel is going to tear it up this year.

As great as a win would be, I feel like it won't mean much. It feels like we get a big win over a BC/BU/etc every fall only to have the team be average to below average all winter. Hopefully, things will start trending up this season in year 3 of Micheletto.

I'm sure this isn't indicative at all of how the season is going to turn out. At least they weren't embarrassed on Opening Night.

Oh. My. God. How does something like this happen? Not an auspicious start to Mick's critical year 3. Oh. My. God. Hey, at least we have the football team to look forward to.........

Meanwhile, the best state college hockey team pasted Boston College tonight 5-2. Some day I will understand how UMass Lowell blew by us in hockey to become one of the top programs in Hockey East, while we have become a laughing stock. Unreal and so frustrating.

I'm so frustrated. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN??? Frankly, Mick needs to go. This is year 3 and he has done nothing. You have to get your guys up on opening night. Obviously, BU is better than us. I didn't expect a win. But BU walked ALL OVER US. My god. Can someone please teach these players how to play defense. I saw WAY TOO MANY odd-man rushes in BU's favor. And, I recall seeing a 2-0 rush for BU with the closest UMass D-Man about 20 feet away. COME ON!!!

And I agree w/ 78. HOW DOES LOWELL PASS US?!?!? What in the hell is Norm Bazin telling these recruits about Lowell?! For the life of me, I cannot understand why someone would WANT to live in Lowell over Amherst. That's like asking me whether you'd rather live in a beach house in Malibu or in prison

^ Remember, these are hockey players. I wouldn't suggest trying to figure out their thought process.

Let's try to look at the positive (singular). I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed it when UMass took forever to get the right players back on the ice after an icing. The refs had to have discussions and there was arguments and the players couldn't figure out which of them on the ice the refs were trying to send back to the bench (hint: it was pretty much all of them). It was a classic Jack Parker jerk move to pull which I definitely appreciated.

My nephew is in his first semester at Ol' State U. His girlfriend is being educated on Long Island and they're pretty much on an alternating weekend schedule. I haven't talked with him yet but I hope it was his turn to visit NY.
