I suspect most people have this mentality, which is perfectly reasonable. Certainly doesn't make you a bad fan. In fact, I'm probably getting over excited about something that doesn't matter all too much. I think mostly I was just looking for a much better Sam logo than the one we used to have. The Power U has grown on me but the entire line looks like it was created with word art. Not really what I would expect from a flagship university.
