The spread is big but I'm hopeful we can be competitive. Not expecting much, but can't wait to see them play.

I guess the cancellation of Florida-LSU opened up some slots. With respect to college FB, the networks seem to be taking whatever they can get right now.

^ well, that says a lot about the UM football program.

Good timing to get that TV slot. Got in a week before the Big Ten starts.

They should be looking for Tues-Weds-Thurs night games to add to the schedule. They can space them a week apart and get national games every time out!

Great point, especially with very limited attendance.TruBluMaroon wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 1:57 pm They should be looking for Tues-Weds-Thurs night games to add to the schedule. They can space them a week apart and get national games every time out!

I like it. Some midweek MAC style national exposure.MassMan06 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 7:28 pmGreat point, especially with very limited attendance.TruBluMaroon wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 1:57 pm They should be looking for Tues-Weds-Thurs night games to add to the schedule. Re: Game 1A: Georgia Southern
We have 1 football game scheduled with a FBS opponent into mid-October. Given the issues with COVID raising havoc with conference schedules, who is going to commit to UMass when that slot might be needed for a re-scheduled conference game?
To me, this alone explains the delays in not hearing about more games.

Econ, not being a jerk but do you ever have a positive thing to say about our football program?

How is what he said negative?
Save your breath... you'll need it to blow up your date

Fair comment, loved watching Isabella in our FBS iteration, and duly noted this numerous times.
As to the strategic direction to FBS, not so much.

Re: Game 1A: Georgia Southern
I think Econ's post is fine. Scheduling games this year is very complex, and Econ's point about teams wanting to save dates for rescheduled games is correct. Our best bet, although it would be very tough on the players, coaches and staff, is to act as an emergency replacement on short notice for teams that had to cancel due to the opponent's Covid issues. The logistics would be tough, but not impossible.
The only reason to do this would be to get playing time for our younger guys to aid in their development. We're not likely to do well in these short notice games.
