Double yes - not only late in games, late in the season. My only concern is the toll on Tre. He's playing big minutes and being asked to do a lot. He looked a little less lively last game. Someone on twitter called it a "casual" 24 and 9, which is very impressive.
I hope Kolton's ready to go. He provides valuable physicality and help on the boards. I wouldn't mind seeing him and East out there together a bit.

^ Kolton barely played in our first matchup because he was still dealing with his wrist/hand injury and Fatts completely stole his lunch. Tough to go up against one of the 2 or 3 best defensive guards in the conference one handed. If they are as careless with the ball as they were against La Salle then URI will run them out of the gym by halftime.
I'm going to echo the worry on Tre getting worn down here. Langevine is a big dude and even if he just leans on Tre for 30+ minutes it's going to be tough. They are going to need somebody else to contribute on offense and let Tre catch his breath for a few possessions. I'm guessing Dowtin is going to eliminate Carl again so we really need Preston or Dibaji to be a reliable second scoring option. I wouldn't bank on another 18 & 8 from Sean. I'd also look for McCall to sub him out a lot more frequently just before the under 4 timeouts (i.e. sub him out w/ 13min left in a half) to let him get an extended break.
Should be a good one, I don't love our chances but keep it close and anything is possible. I'd love to completely burst URI's bubble here since I've seen some people think they could still make it in if they can win all the way to the A10 final.

I thought that if UMass won on at La Salle, they'd end the regular season on a two-game winning streak.
I still feel that way.
Go UMass!

URI are 2.5 point favorites.

^ Wow, definitely lower than I expected.

We are pretty tough at home. Should be a fun atmosphere.

I like us at home too and small home dogs or favorites are a good trend late in the season but man that is a small line.

What were the lines versus SLU, VCU and LaSalle? Seems like we are fairing pretty well lately against the received wisdom.

I'm not a sports bettor, but without doing any research, I'd have to guess UMass has a winning record against the spread (yes, Joleon, we covered in all three of the games you mentioned). Guess my 4-point prediction wasn't radical enough. I did some calculations based on the spread in the Dayton-URI game and thought URI-4 was the right number. By the way, we did cover the spread at URI. UMass seems to be getting a little respect in Vegas now.

I saw somewhere we were 12-2 against the spread at home

^ The Vegas linemakers take something like that into account big time. I would not take UMass giving only 2.5 because URI is on the wrong side of the NCAA bubble and desperately needs to win. Besides, I only bet on four-legged animals. But think the 4 that I quoted would be a fair line and I look forward to seeing a close game.

I've been giving Walfish a little flack recently, but this is awesome: https://www.gazettenet.com/UMass-to-cel ... d-33174120
Congrats to all three. They've all been terrific representatives of the university.

Great story! Yes, these three guys deserve a rousing sendoff. They personify what UMass is all about!
