2020 Recruiting

Any Femi sightings?

No idea but I did see some weird old dude behind the UMass bench in some sort of military hat and goggles. And if that guy is a member of this board, I only have one thing to say: Salute!

I saw a kid in a camo jacket and a navy ski sitting with a kid wearing an A’s hat sitting in the first row of seats in the floor behind the benches. I’m up higher behind them so I couldn’t really see their faces.

Re: 2020 Recruiting
I don't think he was there, but if TJ comes back 100%, Garcia is as good as we are hearing and we add a back up for Tre, next year's team will be challenging for top 4 in the conference. Now, the big "if". If all of the core players come back, and that looks pretty likely right now.
If we add Odulake to the mix I mentioned above, we are definitely challenging for the top 4.
Santos and Walker will be better next year and we should be able to go 9 or 10 deep.
Just saw this from an unbiased source. He's an analyst and scout for NEPSAC. He's referring to Garcia.

I've seen him a good number of times. He's exactly what UMass needs. Energy comparable to Kolton Mitchell's, super tough defensive guy, and can shoot.
Re: 2020 Recruiting
I hope we land Femi even though it will lead to a lot of 4 guards on court. I also think we should go with best 9.

Re: 2020 Recruiting
4 guards?? How so? If we land Femi then Garcia and Femi are the 1 and sometimes 1 & 2 and Carl and TJ are the 2/3's depending on match-ups. If TJ looks anything like he did early this year Carl's mins will be down and if we land Femi, Kolten may see the floor sparingly for defense and East may play 5 mins a game.

Another unbiased opinion on Garcia. This one from Luc Smith, Assistant Director of @Basketbullhoops an affiliate of the Basketball Hall of Fame
@hoophall. My expectations for Garcia are growing rapidly.

After watching UMass vs. Dayton then heading north for NMH vs.
@BrewsterHoops
my big take away is Javohn Garcia (@jg_world15) is going to fill a huge need for UMass. His ability to get in the lane and make plays is going to make Tre Mitchell & UMass’ life a lot easier!!!
Re: 2020 Recruiting
If we get Femi, plus Garcia coming, I wonder if Sean or Kolton would consider leaving if they think pt will be down. I think you need at least 3 who can play the point, in case of injury or whatever. Someone isn't going to be happy with a big minutes cut

Let's not forget about this guy, either. We really haven't had a chance to see what he can do. He's listed as a PG in some places and a combo guard in others. I realize it's a highlight video, but it's pretty impressive.

Putnam Science Academy post-graduate guard John Buggs III signed a National Letter of Intent with UMass on Tuesday after returning home to Louisiana for Thanksgiving break. Buggs previously starred at at Summerfield High School where he averaged over 23 points per game and won three different state championships in Louisiana.
Best known for his ability to shoot the ball from behind the three-point line, Buggs is also an impressive athlete who can create his own shot and score the ball at all three levels.

I really hate the term combo guard...at least the majority of times it is used.

Re: 2020 Recruiting
We might need Chad Venning to bang with this guy next year. Pretty much the same size. From VerbalCommits.com:
He had a lot of offers, including SBU.2/16/2020 - 2020 PF Andre Weir (6-10, 265, 2★) committed to Richmond.
