These next four games will really be a measuring stick of how good this team really is. 3 of the games are away. UMASS really hasn't played a top 10 team this year so it will be interesting to see if the freshmen have gotten enough experience to handle this pressure. Denver also has a little revenge on its mind after last year's NCAA. Hoping for at least a split in each series. Good luck to Carrvel and his team. GO UMASS!

We have to get at least a split with BC in 2 weeks.... Honestly, getting even 1 point this weekend in Denver would be a win IMO. I think Denver is the better team (currently) and as Kahuna mentioned they are going to be playing to make a statement, especially in the first game.

2-2 in the third. good game so far. Denver is tough.

3-2 Denver on a rather lucky goal. less than 2 minutes to go.

Bizarre play near the end of the 1st period when a umass players stick got stuck in the pads of the Denver goalie. The refs let the play continue while the goalie tried to shed the stick. We got puck possession in the neutral zone and shot it in while the ref was trying to help the goalie and waved off the goal. Anyone else think we got screwed there? I watch a lot of hockey and never seen that happen. It’s an automatic whistle if a goalie loses a mask but the refs didn’t call the play dead right away and didn’t blow the whistle until the puck was in the net.

We got screwed. No whistle? The goal should count.

However, I think such an oddball situation did deserve a whistle in the first place.

Never have seen such a conundrum before at any hockey level.

My assumption is that if Denver had scored, they would have counted it. So we’re in a situation where only one team is allowed to score. That’s crap. Either blow it dead right away or count the goal.

Refs completely blew that play. There was never a whistle so the goal should have counted. On another note, we moved up 2 spots to #7 in Pairwise despite the loss.

We remain 8th in PWR despite the lost weekend. Played okay, but the power play is brutally bad, and if that isn’t fixed, we aren’t going anywhere. Our PP is the 10th worst in D1 hockey. Denver features a bunch of goons and Leonard could have been seriously injured last night with the 2 brutal cross checks he took to the head while in a defenseless position. Hopefully these games got us ready for BC. I think we need a minimum of 3 points this coming weekend.

Pretty big hill to overcome when your powerplay goes from the best in the country to one of the worst in the country. Granted you should expect it to take a bit of a dip when you lose your generational PP QB to the NHL.

Lindberg has been insanely good thru 2 periods. Some great saves

1-1 going into 3rd

Nice win tonight. 3rd period becoming UMass' signature. Great goaltending and team kept at it for the W!
