A-10 Regular season

Post by eldonabe » Tue Dec 31, 2019 9:05 am

I am projecting somewhere between 6-8 wins including one bad loss (GW Home) and one surprise win (Richmond away). Then a 1-1 Conference Tournament...

at SLU - L
LaSalle - W
at Dayton - L
at SBU - L
GW - L
at GM - L
Dukes - W
SJU - W
at Davidson - L
at Rhody - L
GM - W
Dayton - L
SLU - L
at Fordham - W
VCU - L
at Richmond -W
at LaSalle - W
Rhody - L

Not to over simplify this, but this team is going to struggle in many games with foul trouble; and it will be compounded by the fact that they are not a great foul shooting team themselves.

This season is all about maturing and bonding. Regardless of the W/L this year, I am excited to watch this develop and come together.

I would be ecstatic if they managed 8 wins in conference.

As currently constituted I would be happy with six. I'm thinking 4 or 5 at the moment.

as of today, only St. Joe and UMass enter the season with losing records OOC. St. Joe had the toughest schedule in the A-10 OOC (slightly harder than Davidson). UMass had the 4th toughest.
6 wins seems possible, realistic/optimistic. 8 would require considerable improvement or luck. I'd like to see them avoid the bottom 4 in final conference standings.

I have them with 5-6 conference wins. The defense has not been good. They need to improve that to get to 6.

There are apparently only three teams with lower pomeroy rankings then UMass: George Washington, saint Joseph's, and Fordham. Any other victory in conference will be an upset. We play those teams each once.

Not for nothin' but I am 7-0 so far - I wonder what our own "sport's psychic" I mean "psychotic" has for a w/l record at this point  I will caveat my opening comment about the GW loss being bad - it was not intended to mean getting blown out, only that it would be a loss to a team we were favored to beat!

^ If they play the rest of the way like they did against Dookane, they'll win a few more that you've predicted. 8)

I hope you're right about them winning 3 of their last 5 road games.

Home games against St. Looie and URIne are Ws that can be had.

That's a bad outcome for us. It may come down to a tiebreaker between us and GMU for the 10th spot and a Wednesday bye. If GMU had lost we probably get 10th with 2 more wins. OK, guys, play hard and take 3 of the remaining games.

If Mason can beat VCU why can’t we?
