Size is not everything.

Ya, but to be picked 10th, 3rd worst team in the MAC and we are not sure we can win. WTF!

The big question is how rusty will we be after the long layoff?

I think this one could go either way but I am not going to expect a win vs. a solid team on the road. They need to show me some road toughness before I can do that. I welcome that happening with open arms, but since we are where we are: Zips by 4.

Based on what, preseason media picks? Akron is rated higher than us in the NCAA Net rankings, RPI, and KenPom, and we're playing in their gym. Also, interesting to note (from the Curry Hicks Sage podcast) that McCall has only won 3 games away from Amherst in his 2 1/2 years here. I see no reason to say they should win, but if they come prepared and play with the right mentality, they can definitely compete, and if it's close anything can happen. I'll be watching, and hopefully they can make it happen, but I wouldn't put this in the "should win" category.

Well said. If I had to guess the line it would probably be Zips -6.5, but if we limit turnovers and hit 3’s, it’s not much less than a 50/50 game.

Zips by 5 in another loss we could have won with Weeks in the game.

Early line is Akron by 9.

I’m predicting a 10 point loss. Until McCall’s teams get better on the road, it’s tough to pick them.

We are playing a bunch of old timers tonight by our recent standards. I remember one of the magazines saying that they have two fifth year guys and three fourth years. I don't know how well that translates to their expeience and strength, but the age gap might be significant.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

31st most experienced team according to KenPom. We're 343.Old Cage wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 10:35 am We are playing a bunch of old timers tonight by our recent standards. If we had played their schedule we would likely be 9-3 or 10-2. Their SOS is about 50 points worse than ours. I'm still giving the edge to the Zips since it's on their court.
