Deny him the ball, deny him the shot, deny him the pass. Make every minute he plays a misery.

You do not. Walters & Brace are bit players for NE on offense, if Samba is the best person to defend Roland, that's where he should be. Now, mind you, UMass will probably do a lot of switching, so it will have to be a full team effort.

Interesting to note, it seems that Roland rarely looks to pass the ball, he's never once had more than 4 assists in a collegiate game, despite playing 30 minutes a game last year.
I don't want players who we are counting on for scoring to possibly pick up early fouls hounding Roland. It's perfect for Keon and Buggs. I agree that Walters has not shown much but Brace needs attention. Last year he averaged 10 points and 6 boards. He shot 41% from 3 and took 138 of them.

This team will look very different with Sy and Tre upfront. Be tough to double down on Tre with Sy out there.

So whats the starting lineup? You go with Tre, Sy, Samba, Carl , and Sean, or split up the frontcourt guys?

Really happy to hear that Sy is back practicing with the team even if it ends up that he doesn't play. The weather should be no factor for attendance. Precipitation is supposed to stop by noon.

McCall remains non committal on Sy. Walfish posted this at 5:30:
McCall said Kolton broke his hand against Lowell. He’ll be re-evaluated in a few weeks, but right now still in a cast.

On Chatman: No timetable and program is supporting him though these issues.

I don’t expect sy back. Boston sports news is not the most reliable as he relies on social media post for the news. Especially after what McCall said I would be pleasantly suprised

^ It's starting to look less likely that he plays. I'm hoping that he can be eased in and maybe play 15 minutes to spell Samba at the 4.

I would be willing to bet he saw Sean East insta story where Sy was shooting free throws and assumed he was back for good

Northeastern are -1.5 point favorites.

No question this will be our toughest test yet. Northeastern is licking their chops to complete the Massachusetts trifecta beating us, BU, and Harvard.

Sy will not play tonight per Walfish: https://www.gazettenet.com/UMass-simply ... d-30293845
Sophomore Sy Chatman is expected to miss his third straight game Tuesday as he continues to deal with personal issues. McCall said he didn’t have a timeline on when Chatman could return to action, although he was on the court for practice Monday according to an Instagram video posted by a member of the team.

Seems a little weird.. if he is back and practicing, why not get some minutes? I was assuming he was away from school dealing with the personal stuff. At this point I'm hoping its not academic if there's "no timetable". Hope to see him on the floor tonight.

He was practicing free throws that’s not same as practicing

Moved to -2 around midnight and NE is currently -2.5. Definitely going to be our toughest matchup of the OOC until the Virginia game. There are now a couple games of film on our press and our freshmen. If UMass is going to win tonight, they will need to hit their freaking foul shots. Didn't end up mattering vs Lowell but you could say it is what kept Fairfield in the game on Saturday.

Excited to see Roland and how UMass tries to stop him.
