FIRE WALT BELL!

Post by dennisdent » Sat Nov 02, 2019 11:54 am

Yup, I'm going there already. I know its not realistic but this a total embarrassment of a once proud program! It wasn't even this bad in CM's first year--the players at least tried! Bell has no fire on the sideline and the team reflects his nonchalance.

Well, realistically he's not going to be fired this year and most probably not next year either. But watching this debacle at home (sick with a bad cold) and hearing the announcers repeatedly question why no one (how about a safety??) is playing the deep middle of the field, I challenge anyone to defend Bell and his defensive coaching staff with respect to their basic competence.

Dennis I understand the sentiment - but this thread should be removed.

Nope! Georgia Southern fired their dud of a head coach after a season and a half. There is no excuse for what is going on with this program. Bell should not be allowed to ruin the program. Zero improvement this season at all!

People have short term memory and apparently forget how atrocious Molnar was both on and off the field. Bell might end up being a terrible coach but Molnar wasn’t better

He did not get fired. I know for a fact that several alumni got together and put up money to buy out his contract.

Same difference. We need to pull the plug on Bell asap. This is like the Bruins when they hired Dave Lewis but then realized he was a disaster and had to go after 1 year.

He is not going anywhere. There are warning signs for sure. But, Nick Saban would have trouble winning with this group. He gets at least next year. We have under the fcs max of 63 scholarships and are playing tons of freshmen who are not 4 and 5 star guys. Defense needs to change for sure. Our running game is better than any point since Steve baylark and we are using a converted wr and guy who wanted out at rb. Way too much chaos to be able to point at coach as sole reason. I think the time will come when it will be easy to blame him and I hope I’m wrong.

Why do we have under the max of 63 FCS scholarships? Is it because all of the players who have quit or been thrown off the team?

You forgot about Marquis Young already (one of the top RBs in UMass football history)! How about Michael Cox! How about Tony Nelson! How about Matt Lawrence! They all came after Baylark. The currents RBs can't hold their jocks.

Saban would have beaten teams with this roster, and so would many other competent head coaches.

More excuses! I want UMass football to succeed but he's just not a head coach.

The old Jack is back! I thought you wanted to delete this thread...He won five games his first year and the team was competitive. He would have been fired after one year for the way this UMass team is playing. It took being blown out by UMass to get him fired:
