1/3 (ish) of the roster as captains seems weird.

I think the team is ready to turn the corner. 4 captains tells me that to take that next step, it has to be led by peers.

I would imagine this is also related to why Soysal left the team. Chemistry seemed to be an issue there -- you see it a lot at the bottom of the A10 with teams nitpicking each other for each mistake rather than trying to work through it. Nelson seems great.

I'm glad that Bre has earned a spot as well. I think that her hot-head problems in her first year were a big ? for me and near the end of the year, she fouled out a couple of times. To make a deep run in the A10 tournament, WBI, etc, they really need her to be focused and contributing. I hope that this signals that she got the message from the staff and is ready to go.

So excited about this year!

Thought this was the best thread for this. I see Asia McCoy has landed at South Plains College, a juco in Levelland, Texas. Good luck to her.

Hard fought exibition contest, but the Minutewimen prevail 89-39. Fast break points: Us - 28, Them - Nil.

This game was not impressive in the first half. 13 turnovers. 21 overall for the game. The women looked a bit nervous out there to start but then settled in. 5 did not dress including Bre and Nelson.

That said, I'm guessing they were running plays they are still working on in practice. First year players Maeve Donnelly and Syndey Taylor were extremely impressive and Philoxy worked her magic well. Donnelly had 9 blocks. Again, there were so many turnovers -- 20+ against a Division 3 team seems worrisome.

I was also at the game. 21 turnovers against a Div 3 team is a problem, but at least 5, and probably more like 10 of the turnovers were some pretty bogus calls. The girls were on a run, and suddenly there’s a mysterious travel called. Any time the pivot foot moves a millimeter it’s a travel, but it’s never called in a close game. The refs were trying to remind the minutewomen they were up 20, 30, or 50 and they should not embarrass the nice young ladies from Dartmouth. The Dartmouth girls committed some obvious travels, like falling down while in sole possession of the ball, and the refs didn’t make a call. I’m fully supporting the refs and their calls, it’s the right thing to do. But it needs to be considered when analyzing the stats. IMHO😀

I'm looking forward to seeing them play on Tuesday.

Trail at the half 39 - 32. We are getting killed on their 3 point shooting 8 for 16.

Trail after 3 by 13. Can't stop their 3 point shooting.

Lost 79 -64. Made a run in the 4th and cut the score to come within 7 but could not keep the pace up. Merrimack made 24 3 point shots.

This is too bad because with the men playing in the second game many men fans came in in the second half to watch and the women lost a good opportunity to show what they could do. With a decent game they might have got some people to come to their games.

Not a good showing by the women. I got there with 8:46 left. They had just cut the lead to eight after bring down 50-63 and I thought hey... they have a shot.
I must’ve missed the last few points cuz I thought they lost 61-77.

That was hands down the worst loss in the Tory Verdi era. Gave up a triple double and resoundingly beaten by a D2 team. The first year players looked shell shocked (like vs Towson last year). Sidney Taylor was a bright spot though. I am very high on Philoxy but there was too much iso-ball and doing it by herself when an open pass / "the right basketball play" was obvious.

Low turnover margin though was impressive. Should not have even been a game at all though.
