There were questions a while ago about Walker's height. He was listed as 6'7 at Cleveland State and he is 6'9 on our roster. In this team picture he looks to be an inch taller than Sy. Of course, you can't tell if someone is slouching or standing up straight but it looks more like 6'9 to me.

he looks as big in both height and weight as Tre Mitchell, but is listed as 50 lbs. lighter.

I was thinking the same thing when I looked at the team photo...Dibaji looks tall. I wonder when we will hear if he gets his waiver or not. Originally I was thinking the year off might help him get stronger and get acclimated to the program, but if he's eligible and he can play at all I think we could use him, especially if we are going to press. Plus having an another guy that can shoot (and it sounds like he can) should only help space the floor for Mitchell.

What I've watched of him (very little) he kind of reminds me of a more athletic Tyrn Flowers...a long, skinny lefty that can shoot a little bit. No idea if that's a good comparison just thought his shot and body type looked similar. He does seem a little more explosive than Tyrn, but no idea how his skill level compares.

I know we have a lot of new, young faces and that doesn't typically lend itself to good results, but I like the potential this group has. I think some added strength and experience and we may have something here if McCall gets them all pushing in the right direction (so far so good).

Of course I've said similar things about other new kids as well.

Love this photo so much. The freshman are really embracing being students at UMass. Last year team would go to hockey games but always sit away from the student section like they were to cool for it. It may not be a big thing but to me it screams a different attitude.

^ agreed.. McCall has harped on the fact of needing more players that appreciated being at UMass. And by all means signs are pointing to that being accomplished

I think this season will have ups and downs. A good goal would be to finish over .500 and make it to quarters in A10 tournament. Next year could be the coming out party..

18-13. They have some fire power, just need to play tight D for 40 minutes. Goal should be, score 80, keep opponent under 70

I think this year will be an improvement because of roster cohesiveness, a stronger culture of effort, and the fact that Mitchell is an immediate game-changer, but I don’t think we should expect to be truly competitive just yet. I’m not going to write off a top 6-7 finish in the A10 standings, but I think our record will more likely end up somewhere between 7-11 and 9-9. The league is just going to be much better than it was last season, especially around the middle of the pack. Personally though, if you tell me that we’ll finish 8-10, play hard, avoid a Wednesday game in Brooklyn - I think that sounds like a great first step and I’d be excited about it.

Supposing we do keep the nucleus of our rotation and our coaching staff in tact though - next year really could be the year where we push for a double-bye. Senior Carl, sophomore Tre, great athletes around them and everyone being familiar with the system.

Dibaji just posted his pics from the team photo shoot on his Instagram with a caption of “Year 2 of 4.” Hope that means he knows he will play. I figure we’ll have an answer in a few days at the most with the season being so close.

I hope so, but we're dealing with the NCAA so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Matt McCall @CoachMattMcCall 4m
Great getting a chance to listen to David Stern speak last night.
Look forward to him talking to our guys today. #flagship

(Stern spoke at Isenberg last night.)
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."
