Um, because they are very good and get offers from programs that can pay them a higher salary?

It's an interesting decision, that's for sure. Hopefully it pays off!

I care.

I think this is a good move. There has been substantial progress since Dawley left and there is an actual identity for the program IMO. I'm really excited for this season and expect all this progress to continue.

Tory seems like a great guy and with the Champions Center should be able to build a Top 4 program in the A10. I couldnt tell you who the womens coach was when I went to UMass 1980-84. Around 1998 I went to a speech Bruiser Flint did and womens coach Joanie Obrien made a speech as well. Seemed like she really cared. I know she had some issues during her tenure. One other memory was the crowd stormed the court after a big win in the Mullins Center circa 1995 and Coach Cal grabbed the PA mic and screamed "GET OFF THE FLOOR THE WOMEN HAVE A GAME HERE LATER". The crowd scattered like Moses commanding the Red Sea. Go UMass

Listened to Tory on the podcast. He was actually interesting however he really needs to stop saying "ya know" every 5 or 6 words.

Well deserved extension for Coach Verdi. He has done a masterful job in bringing respectability to the women's hoop program. Continued success to Coach Verdi and the classy Minutewomen.

I certainly hope you are joking ! Verdi was not a top line / excellent hire, his ranking were be good at best. Look at his record and how long it took him to come up with an above average team. An AD at a college should be ranked based on his two most important hires, a mens football and mens basketball team head coach. That is were the revenue is made.
