Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell
He's really, really good. I just worry about expectations. He can be close to a double double guy as a freshman but that's a lot of pressure.
Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell
The kid is a Freshmen.... He will lay a few turds and he will have a few great games.
IMO the hardest thing for a young "Big" to adjust to is the speed. That is why they tend to get into foul trouble more often than not. If he can stay on the floor for 20-25 minutes a game (stay out of foul trouble), he will get decent freshmen numbers. I could care less if it is a double/double. Just log the minutes and everything else should fall into place.

Yeah the speed of the game is my only real concern for Tre and that’s mainly at the defensive end. I do think having played some tougher competition in the prep ranks and in AAU will help him, as will the fact that he really seems to have made a continuous effort to transform his body.

From everything we've heard, Tre is a good passer as well which will get others involved. I really think Sy will have a good season alongside Tre, and they will compliment and feed off each other. Djery fits in that group nicely too. If Carl and TJ can dependably shoot at a consistent clip, and we get some good PG play and a healthy Samba, I don't think it will be all on Tre. CJ and Santos look very capable to provide quality depth, and Keon has shown he can score as well. Team is much more balanced and the attitude surrounding this group as a team looks pretty good. They'll be ok. Its a young team and they'll take some lumps, but no doubt they'll fight through it and improve as the season goes on. Looking forward to the season

It seems like we've felt that way almost every year for the last 10? The only year it may have been the case was 2 years ago when we had 7 players.
However, I am optimistic this year based on what I'm hearing about the comradarie, work ethic and enthusiasm of this group.

Different group, different attitude, different staff. I think it'll make a difference69MG wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 6:15 pmIt seems like we've felt that way almost every year for the last 10? The only year it may have been the case was 2 years ago when we had 7 players.

Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell
In my opinion, the difference between this recruiting class and the NOLA class (including Baldwin, Flowers) is between the ears. In my brief dealings with some of them it's about the name on the front of the jersey. It's a cliche, i know, but these guys seem very focused.mlaconte459 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2019 12:20 pm ^ even better.. his response..

Per umassathletics.com
After a 23-point night against Maine last weekend, UMass men's basketball center Tre Mitchell has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Mitchell's selection marks the Minutemen's third Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honor this season, joining T.J. Weeks and Sean East II, who earned the honor in the first two weeks of the season, respectively. It marks the first time since the 2003-04 season that three different Minutemen have been named the conference's rookie of the week.
