Game 1: @ Rutgers - 8/30/2019

Post by InnervisionsUMASS » Fri Aug 23, 2019 9:13 am

A week away from game 1. How we feeling? Anyone heading down?

It's a 7:15 start. I plan to watch it at Victory Bar & Cigar in Worcester if anyone wants to join.

As I’m sure most of you know, the Rutgers game is on the Big Ten Network. Looking forward to watching!

Just a respectable outcome would be nice. The good thing is that Rutgers is at the bottom of the B1G and their Massey Ratings are not much better than ours.

Still, they are a P5 team and should be stocked with 5 bodies, something we are not (at least not many who are not Freshmen).

This could be a shoot out - with 2 weak defenses. I would love to see a "last team who has the ball wins" scenario.

In last nights Miami/Florida game, Miami's OL was the difference as they were manhandled by the Gators front 7, especially in the second half that cost them the game. I fear the same on Friday since our OL has been bad for the last couple of years!

Miami’s OL has three freshmen. Our line is full of veterans. I think they take a huge leap this year. The left side is stacked.

Will anyone be getting together on the North Shore, or north of Boston at all?

Coach Bell said today he knows who the starter will be, and we will know something tomorrow

please stop being fearful - have some faith. Our OL should be a strength this season and we have some great veterans on that line. The question is how will the offense execute Coach Bell's offense first time out with an entirely new system than the pro style sets that they were used to under Coach Whip. Should be a fun and interesting season - looking forward to it. Be fearless.

Okay...something is wrong here, the world is upside down...I 100 percent am with Jack on his last three posts regarding uniforms, being fearless and UConn...it’s either a sign of really good or really bad things to come. :D

I'll be in NYC. Any alum watching somewhere? Is Prof Thoms just a Boston bar? Or UMass bar?

I confirmed that Victory Bar & Cigar has the Big Ten Network so I'll be there with rsox1221 and hopefully a few others if anyone in the Worcester area wants to join. All craft beer there is $5 and they have a huge selection. No food served there since it is a cigar bar, but you can bring food in if you want.
