You will probably hear all that at some point from MM, but on his terms and on his time.TheInsider wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 8:46 am I don't need a stream or even a box score.. Maybe some quick highlights and a few words.. We know in these, especially with so many new guys the score doesn't matter.. But how bout player X played hard.. etc
These exhibitions are really hard to judge - he may spend one entire game working on back picks (for example) and the rest of what they do is simply a non-emphasis. To the average observer here, we see them look like shit and focus on the whole rather than the finite.
Then you get the many "expert talent scouts" here spouting off stuff that MM just wasn't concerned about, but everybody here see's as a big deal....

So this is from a article in a paper that's covering the event down there.. I payed the buck so heres the highlights...
Behind five players scoring in double figures, UMass pulled away early against the University of Calgary en route to an 89-73 victory in Tuesday’s scrimmage game at the University of the Virgin Islands’ Sports and Fitness Center.
Tre Mitchell, a 6-foot-9 center and one of seven incoming freshman on the Minutemen’s Paradise Jam Summer Tour roster, had a double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds, both game highs.
Sy Chatman added 14 points, Keon Clergeot had 12 points, T.J. Weeks 11 points and Sean East III had 10 points and five assists for UMass, which led by as many as 24 points.
The Minutemen brought just 10 of their 14 players on the 2019-2020 roster on the exhibition series to the USVI, but two of those — incoming freshman John Buggs and returning player Samba Diallo, a rising sophomore — both sat out Tuesday’s game to recover from injuries.
No matter — after battling to a 5-all tie with Calgary with 16 minutes, 54 seconds left, UMass broke the game open with a 27-5 run over the next 6½ minutes.
The Minutemen took their biggest lead a few minutes later, with Mitchell’s short jumper putting them up 39-15 with 7:30 left en route to a 50-32 halftime lead.
The Dinos managed to fight back into contention in the second half, pulling within 10 points, 66-56, on Foreman’s jumper with 9:27 remaining, but never cracked UMass’ double-digit lead.

Anyone figure out who didn't make the trip? I assume djery is one of them but can't figure out who the others may be. Perhaps Randall west or dibaji Walker?

If they are counting 14, West is probably #14 as he is listed on the roster. My guess, Djery and KTM due to injuries, West and Carl. Carl is not injured. Thanks for providing this info. Regardless of the opposition, very happy to see Tre's stats.
Re: Virgin Islands, August 2019, exhibition trip
So was Carl the one that had a passport issue? I thought I heard somewhere MM said a player was having an issue with that.

27 and 15 is really impressive first your first game against anyone...
Re: Virgin Islands, August 2019, exhibition trip
Hooray for the Virgin Islands Daily News and to TheInsider for sacrificing a buck. That's a pretty monster-sized game for Mitchell, I don't care who they are playing against. I remain concerned about Diallo's injury status, hope I am wrong. I wonder if the Virgin Islands Daily News is going to get a cease and desist order from Bamford and company?
Bamford has erased McCutcheon
Re: Virgin Islands, August 2019, exhibition trip
I would be extremely pessimistic if it was Diallo's knee, but I think we heard here it was something else.

Totally forgot about KTM

^^^ Maybe the $$ they're going to be saving on recruiting will enable them to send someone to cover future trips like this one.
