Why not?
He won a National Championship by hitting the game winning.
ACC Freshman of the Year
First Team All America Soph and Junior year.
National Player of the Year after Junior year.

Aren't those considered stats?!?
"Stats" and "Stat line" are not the same thing. Case in point: you listed stats that are not part of his stat line.
My point is MJ played within the system at UNC which hurt his stat line. Hard to tell how well an 18 year old kid playing juniors will do by his stat line. Will he be as good as Cale? Well, odds are no, because Cale is really special.
Raise the bar, do the minimum.

Playing Maine at Mullins Dec 7 when Colorado is at the Garden
He could come Dec 6 vs Maine off day for Avalanche
He won’t be here until the 2020-2021 season at the earliest, FYI.

We need a poll for the over/under on how many times the game announcers call him Cale while he's here

Goalie Colin Purcell to UMass. Highly touted 2002 tender who had a great Select 17 and made the Hlinka Gretzky squad 🇺🇸. Quick reflexes, 6'6" and a calm demeanor. Footwork to get out beyond the crease. Progress has been 📈. Really high ceiling.

4.25⭐️Noah Ellis to UMass. 2002 has seen his stock rise the last year. Good size, strong skater & versatile. Plays hard & physical. Zips accurate passes all over the ice. High grade in upcoming Select 17 Report. High ceiling as he is athletic and hungry.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

We just added another defenseman, from Finland. The article also cites the entire freshman class.

Yeah, he’s official now, but it was reported about a month ago. Looks like he might be a good one.

Okay, so I am more of a hoop guy.

But I follow hockey. We got both good goalies returning and two good defensemen coming in, one already drafted other from finaland.

That's where I am and eagerly awaiting season.

Can we be close to last year? talk it up?

The D from Finland apparently didn't like having to go to class (a rumor that has been floating around) so he went back to Finland.
Replaced by Matt Kessel. 6'3" 200 defender will take place of Jaakko Haarti who signed pro in Finland before coming to Amherst. Bloomfield Hills, MI native

My understanding is Kessler replacing the Fin is a win for us. As for the season, I would be disappointed with anything less than a top 4 finish in Hockey East and think we have a good shot at getting back to the tournament. We did, however, lose the best player in the country, as well as our second best defenseman.

I hear that. But we return two hot goalies and a new defenseman that is already drafted.

Have to figure the team is going to take a step back losing both Makar and Ferraro. While I don’t think a UMass player will win the Hobey, the juniors and sophomore class is full of players who have proven that they can contribute at a high level in college hockey. If the incoming freshman contribute as expected, and those other two classes continue to develop, then yeah. It’s quite possible that UMass will earn home ice again and get another trip to the NCAAs.

Worst case scenario, UMass should be at least a NCAA bubble team. Anything worse would be a disaster.

And if they do make a tournament again, Carvel and the entire staff should be extended and given pay raises.
UMass Football: 22-3 at home when I was a student.

Leave the A-10!
