Re: KAEO LuWane Pipkins (PG-2015)
It's interesting to me how much of a role desire plays in athletic productivity. Having played college sports I can attest to desire overcoming lack of skills or experience. It's pretty clear now that Pipkin's lack of desire due to whatever negative thinking was going on affected his play. There could have been other things, obviously, like the observation that his shot had changed, or fatigue, or injury. His shot mechanics could have been a result of a lack of desire. Most of the time it seemed to me that he was engaged in the games. Maybe it's just an innate need to be involved or love of the game or interest in some of his teammates to do well. But, for me anyway, his lack of productivity was kind of a mystery until things were revealed at the end of the season. Desire can come from a variety of internal emotions. I hope he resolves things and finds his desire again. Even though he pretty much burned his bridges, I enjoyed watching him play and liked what I knew of him as a person.

It’s really unfortunate how many of the posters here have become anti-Pipkins. The guy did a lot for our program and he’s still only a student athlete - let’s not be so sensitive.

I would be a lot more on board with that sentiment (I once anticipated his jersey being retired) if Pipkins had not been a serious cancer on the team this past season and acted like a COMPLETE dick on his way out. Yes, he is a student athlete. True. The University of Massachusetts gave him a scholarship.

I am seeing a lot of Kyrie in Pip at this point.inthescoop wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 9:46 pm It’s really unfortunate how many of the posters here have become anti-Pipkins. The guy did a lot for our program and he’s still only a student athlete - let’s not be so sensitive.
He has proven to be a "Me" guy not a "We" guy. If We win, that is great, but if Me don't get Mine along the way then I don't truly care and am not going to be happy.....
That kind of attitude is not going to get you far in Amherst (or Boston). Personally, I would rather see an 18 win team less talent and great team chemistry, than a 22 win team with a ball dominant asshat who is [subtly and not so subtly] constantly telling you he's the man!

Pip broke the golden rule that I learned after making a mistake when I was younger. Never trash your former employer on the way out because the world is small and things always come back around. No need to hate on Pip he did great for awhile and we loved him for it. But I hope he figures out, unless it's a matter of importance (life/death/injustices to be righted) then just say nice things when you move on, thank people for the opportunities and make your next stop even better.inthescoop wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 9:46 pm It’s really unfortunate how many of the posters here have become anti-Pipkins. What happens if the new Providence coach is part of the Florida/ McCall coaching family?UMassHoops wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 10:45 amPip broke the golden rule that I learned after making a mistake when I was younger. I wonder why - money? Michigan has to be a healthy bump in pay from PC.
Length of contract?
Some kind of oversight restrictions?
Maybe he met the current remaining players and thought they were a bunch of prima-donna douche's
