Have to correct myself. It wasn't Koprivica, it was Zahkarov, who is going to Gonzaga. I think it was Insider who called it and he was correct. I don't see Zahkarov on the roster so maybe he left Montverde early.69MG wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 8:28 am ^ The opponent is Montverde Academy, a BB powerhouse from FL. Check out their website. Recent grads are Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and that Kyrie guy.
I think the 2 guys Mitchell is going against are 7-1 Koprivica, a 4* player going to FL State and Precious Achiuwa, the #12 player in the country. Kind of hard to tell from their photos, but they are on the roster.

What could possibly go wrong?

I don't see McCall signing up any pint-size point guards. He's all about length in his Defenders.

These are real scenarios that happen all the time. Experience shows they happen and experience shows they are bad. Are you seriously trying to say because TB isn’t aware of it, it won’t happen? There are a lot of red flags in this, if you want to look.

Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell
These so called red flags are red... red herrings. Of course TB is going to have an affinity for his guys that he's coached, there would a problem if he didn't. That's part of the value he brings to the table in getting these guys into the program. But to then extrapolate that into internal divisions and favortism is just creating one of many possible outcomes out of thin air. It's just as likely that he extends his coaching acumen and efforts to the kids he didn't bring to the table and does a great job with everyone. You hire people because you expect the best out of them and them to grow in their positions, and I have to assume MM and Bamford have done their homework or the offer to TB would never be made.

The fact is that in a lot of cases players are more closely tied to the assistant who recruited them. There’s always the chance for locker room issues, but TB first and foremost is going to want UMass to succeed, and he’s going to push for the players who are most likely to make that happen, regardless of their relationship with TB.
Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell
This is not the first time a coach has hired a guy that has close ties to a AAU program or a prep program. Actually it’s rather common.
Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell
The bigger problem would be if we don't get Mitchell, Bergeron and Weeks. I'll take my chances on the rest.
Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell
TB wants to win games and tournaments. That's how he will advance his career. Playing favorites will not serve him.
