Watching the Charlotte news tonight the Carolina Panthers announced that they are building a "practice bubble" and it looks a lot like the one that is going up behind McGuirk.

Of course the next statement was that season ticket prices are going up for the next season.

Official announcement today regarding the bubble and other stadium upgrades. Club Rugby not happy. I guess their field is where the bubble is going. I am shocked everything is going to be ready for this season. That's cool.

I thought Club Rugby was in the field behind the Mullins?

That space get waterlogged with a minimal amount of rain and the release mentioned inclement weather use as one of the benefits, but that thing doesn’t look like something that goes up and down for short term uses.

That area was the parking lot when the FB stadium opened in 1965. There were plenty of games where we could not park in there because the rain made it a mud hole. Took your chances parking there. On those days I would park just off the road and walk in trying at best to avoid the puddles of water.

Love the banter on twitter about whether the UMass logo will actually be on the bubble or not. I never considered that it might end up not having it... I hope it does.

I know the locals had a conniption fit when Lombardi had a giant U painted on the water tower atop of campus. Wonder if they will have a similar fit when the giant Power U is on the bubble.

I personally don’t care what is painted on the bubble. I just want to see it actually installed.

Is the alternative no markings or a proactive sponsor to pay for all the drivers on Rte 116?

Gotta love the Amherst residents. Too stupid to realize that their town would be completely forgotten if not for the University (and AC) they have.

I like where your head is at regarding the sponsor.

This is a REALLY good idea, wonder what it would take to be able to make that happen, any clue?

I think that's great ad-space, even if they don't have a sponsor who would pay to get stuff on there, it would be neat if they could have schedules or something of the sort on there to promote the team(s).

Let me try my hand at a NIMBY: people should not be looking away from the road to see a giant bubble while they're driving at freeway speeds!

What, you're not going to be riding around in a self driving vehicle in the future. The bubble has an expected life of 10 years, which could mean we'll use it for 16 years. (-:

So happy the other white wall is coming down. That's been an eyesore, IMHO. Definitely will make it look less like a glorified high school stadium. These incremental improvements are very nice to see.
