We can debate the quality of the opponents, but the fact is, it will be a brand that can catch the attention of the media and college hoops fans.

At least one MW team is not totally on board: https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sp ... story.html
Unfortunately, it's my current home-town team - which I'd really like to see against A10 teams, particularly UMass. My hope is that the A10 teams, when contemplating a 6 hr flight to San Diego vs. a 16 hour fly/bus in blizzard trip to, say, Laramie, will push for the Aztecs to be a part of the challenge.

This is cool!!!
SDSU didn't want to do it but the rest did. That would be a cool matchup UMass vs SDSU.
Would suggest they consider matching up Air Force with us too. Clearly with Barnes and Westover, it would be of local interest and anything that puts people in the seats is a good thing - not that I am trying to turn the Bill into an away game but I think it would be fun.
I always like these challenge tournaments. Wish there were more involvement with the A10.

I'd love to see SDSU in it. I grew up in San Diego and got a graduate degree there. But I would root for the Minutemen.classof62-64 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 24, 2018 6:03 pm At least one MW team is not totally on board: https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sp ... story.html

Re: A 10/MT WEST Chalange
I flunked spelling regularly in high school. Tried to fix the title but can't figure out how to do it. Maybe if there are games in Vegas we will have to wait until them to head out to Vegas.

This was mentioned elsewhere, but I'm saying it again in the native thread.
The pairings for the 2020 A10 / Mtn West games have been announced:
Utah State at Davidson
UNLV at VCU
St. Bonaventure at New Mexico
San Diego State at Saint Louis
George Mason at Fresno State
Boise State at Rhode Island
Air Force at Saint Joseph’s
Richmond at Colorado State
Duquesne at Wyoming
Dayton at Nevada

With 11 teams in the MW, and 14 in the A10, this was a musical chairs game from the start. The ones left out:
San Jose State - 4-win seasons in each of the past two, and hasn't been .500 since 2010-11.
UMass - You know it's been a struggle recently.
Fordham - Last in the A10 two years running. Has only finished in the top ten in the league once in the last twelve seasons.
GW - Coming off 12th and 11th place finishes in the last two.
La Salle - Hasn't done much since their 2013 Sweet 16 run.
Very easy for the conferences to leave all of those out.
The series with the Mtn West will happen again in 2021-22, so we'll see if we make it then. The series also has an option to continue for 22-23 and 23-24.
