If he ever lost 50-75lbs and got down to 310, he would have an NBA career.

That was not a good UNH team which was a great thing for McCall and the team. Got to work everybody out.

at the end, this one almost felt like an exhibition game.

really happy with the defensive effort tonight. you gotta love shooting 66% from the field and 5 guys in double digits. good game for their confidence. 2-0 lets go. bring on harvard.

Diallo is money at the line. Stroke looks solid.

This freshman class is pretty good. Chatman is better than I anticipated this early, and Diallo is very athletic. Wood is gonna be a very good pg

Unique looked a bit down tonite. Seems to be buried down the rotation and his body language seemed indifferent. Same with KTM I thought

Team is pretty deep and when Baptiste comes in, will be a lot bigger up front too

I know of only one game where UMass shot better than this: February 12, 1991, at West Virginia. UMass went 35-of-52 (67.3%) from the field and beat the Mountaineers 98-89, behind McCoy's 23, Williams' 22 and Herndon's 21. One more attempt and one more make tonight, and they would have equaled those numbers. That was UMass' first-ever win at WVU.

It genuinely looks like everyone on this roster belongs in D1.

It's a real step up from the skeleton crew we were working with last year.

Combine this talent with good coaching we might be able to have a productive season.

Not much to add. When you win this easily not much has to be said. After watching 3 games (Westfield State and the 2 real games) the new player I'm most impressed with is Cobb. He is better than advertised on defense, fights for rebounds and finds ways to score.

Frankly, it was kind of sad to see Unique and KTM essentially get garbage time minutes. IF KTM stays as aggressive as he was tonight I can see him getting more minutes because we don't have a lot of size right now. Unique is stuck behind too many other guards with better overall games. I don't mean to pick on him because he does a lot of things well, but if I would prefer never to see Keon take another 3. His shot looks worse than Unique's.

Good performance against a pretty crappy team. D was much more solid than against Lowell, especially in first half. Offense was also better than 1st game out (when it wasn't bad). Entry passes were strong, great shooting, good balance, free throw shooting much better.

Some random thoughts:

Wood's speed gives us a different dimension on offense -- he is still trying some stuff he got away with in high school that he can't at this level (especially when the competition gets better), but he is going to be good. All the freshman are.

Holloway was getting great position inside -- glad he got rewarded for it. Hopefully things continue to click that way.

Nice having multiple guys that can chuck it up there from deep.

Only thing I didn’t love was the defensive rebounding, especially on free throws.

I kinda like the new radio pbp guy...think he'll be good.

Pip seemed as relaxed as I've ever seen him in the press conference. Things didn't seem so heavy with him. Was nice to see.

Anywho...fun to watch tonight.

I thought the same thing watching him coming into the game; seemed a bit better once he got into it a bit.

I was impressed at how much more talent this team has when compared to the undermanned squad we pulled for last season; I guess with that lax player being a pretty big kid joining West and Baptiste, practices should be much better than last season. Things are looking up. Believe our guys will handle Harvard!
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

I saw the same thing with Unique. His body language was terrible. Has to be tough going from a key guy to essentially a walk-on. If Babtiste can can do what we think he can regarding D and rebounding, this line-up will have a ton of flexibility. We could have the biggest guy on the floor at all times if we wanted to. I think we know where the 2 extra roster spots are coming for next year also.

I'm in agreement about Unique, and it's a shame. He looked completely disinterested. Lots of walking and not hustling, not much enthusiasm or high-fiving after plays. I really like his athleticism and ability to defend; hopefully he can find a role with this team, but it looks like he'll be leaving once he gets the chance. He did such a nice job for last year's team and had some good games and really exciting moments.

On the flipside, Cobb is incredible. He looks like he can score from anywhere on the floor, and I didn't realize he's as tall as he is. With Pip, Pierre, and Cobb, I'm not worried about putting up points. Defense and the progression of the new guys is the key for this team as the competition ramps up. Did Cobb's injury get addressed at all last night? He left the game at one point with either an ankle injury or a leg cramp and I didn't hear an update during the game.

Juice, it looked like Cobb rolled his ankle but he came back and appeared fine. I too am impressed with him. He plays tough D and I agree he can score in a variety of ways. Pip, Pierre, Cobb, and Hayward all can really shoot. Hayward impressed me last night with his ability to quickly catch and shoot, and his range is pretty good.

Chatman really has been the biggest surprise for me. He's not afraid to go get rebounds, he's a good shot blocker, and he showed last night he can shoot. Impressive for a freshman 2 games in

Laurent I thought had a nice game as well. He's that guy who quietly does his thing and he's solid all around. Doesn't make mistakes and seems like a steadying type of player

This is a good team. When they really gel and the rotations are blended together, when they peak they'll surprise people. There's guys who bring something different from each other and it gives Coach McCall lots of options. We're in for a nice run here
