Sources: The Mountain West has voted in favor of an annual Atlantic 10-Mountain West Challenge. Atlantic 10 will meet and decide in the next few weeks.

Think the A10 will agree? There must have already been discussions with them
and the ACC and Big East aren’t on line 2.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

I hope so! Mountain West has historically had some pretty good teams. I feel like the A10 would have more to lose than the MW, right?

I did get confirmation that the streaming ESPN+ games will be archived and available to watch in case there are any of y'all unable to watch them when they stream live.

Not a surprise if MM holds Rashaan out of tomorrow's exhibition. Better for his leg and it will give more minutes to Laurent, Chatman and KTM who can use the work.

Some minor UMass basketball news and notes from practice today, as the Minutemen host Westfield state for an exhibition tomorrow night:
-Rashaan Holloway is questionable for tomorrow — he’s been practicing without issue, but McCall wants to be careful with his hamstring problem

Also Westfield state is not going have anyone close enough in size to guard him so it wouldn't be a great training excercise

I think the players can all use the minutes getting used to playing with each other against unfamiliar opponents, but hamstrings can be tricky (as anyone who lived through the Terry Glenn years with the Patriots can attest) so erring on the side of caution for an exhibition is probably the smart choice.

"It's definitely monumental," said Marcus Collins (Rindge and Latin/Cambridge, Mass.), the Owls senior captain when asked to reflect on the historical nature of the series of games between the two public Universities. "I'm just excited for it, excited to play in the Mullins Center it's a real big arena and there will be a lot of people there."

Let's hope. If they get 3k in the building for this game it will mean people are beginning to pay attention.

^ The Westfield coach for those games in the 70's was Leo LeBlanc, a UMass varsity player for the 58-59-60 seasons. He is mentioned in passing in the story, but he probably is the reason that the games happened.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

Well, as you say, let's hope. The game is on ESPN+. For $5 a month and several of our games there, I suspect that a lot of folks have signed up.

^ Me + 3. We are pumped for this season and want to see the 7 new guys in game action.

Collins, by the way is a pretty good player. As we should expect, he is undersized (6-4 forward) but he averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds last year. He may have played against Pierre in high school as both are from the Boston area.

$ 50 you pay for espn + up front. Also, most games will be on there if not all. I think only national tv games and away games may not be on there.
