#UMass hockey adds another '03 commit today, this one from defenseman Landon Cato. He's already 6'2" 180 as a 15-year-old and currently plays for the North York Rangers in the GTHL

Congrats to Landon Cato on his commitment to UMass Amherst.
A defenceman for the GTHL's Toronto Young Nationals, Cato provides a solid frame on the back end who can separate opponents from the puck. He excels in the transition game with strong skating and instincts.

4.25 star recruit per Neutral Zone. Only 15 so we won’t see him for a few years.

It's unbelievable that we're getting commits from 15 year olds. Just shows the respect our staff is getting. This looks like a nice surge for UMASS hockey

UMass picks up a really good commit in ‘01 LD Kennedy O’Connor out of Loomis Chaffee. Good size, first step, his game has come a long way over the last year. He’s a potential NHL prospect down the line if he can be a little more assertive.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

Eric Faith, another commit, this one for 2019-2020. He's having a good year, 14 goals in 19 games. I don't know what the level of competition is where he's playing, however. Anyone know more?

I wonder if he's projected to fill the inevitable hole in the roster when Makar moves on at the end of the year. Not necessarily in terms of talent, but it would be good to get more information.

This latest guy is not on it, but as usual, Marshmont_63 is on top of his game and UMass hockey. He just updated his future roster chart 12 hours ago.

At the UNH game a guy sitting near me commented on how if we continue to play well it will help recruiting.
I just looked at Marshmont's chart.

We have 7 commits for 2019-2020, another 7 for 2020-2021 and more for the years after that. I won't count anything past 2020-2021 as too much can change.
I guess recruiting is doing OK.

^ Hope this commits means more than the 2017 commit to Michigan State. Quotes are about the same, except the part about going to games as a kid!

Given he’s 19, my guess is this commitment is for real. Michigan State hired a new coach 4 months after he committed, so its pretty easy to guess why he decided not to go there. He’s having a breakout season this year in the USHL with 22 points in 25 games. I’m sure he’ll be here next year.
