That's just not the type of player we need him to be, as long as he realizes that and doesn't force them. He'll be an asset defending multiple positions, cleaning up the offensive glass, and getting the crowd going with dunks. If he goes 2 for 4 or 5 every game with no shots beyond 15 feet, that's all good with me.
If he isn't going to figure out the jumper, then he needs to at least figure out how to finish at the rim.

McLean didn't lead the team in any rebounding category. He doesn't need to make 3's to be helpful, but the threat of his taking & making 3's needs to be there... if it's not, he's a liability on offense and if last season is any indication the rest of his game isn't good enough to make up for that deficiency.

Exactly. For someone with his leaping ability he missed far too many layups. He had value as a defender and rebounder but I'm not sure that will translate to this year with the number of options we now have. His minutes will be determined by what he can bring vs. what the new guys show.

I misspoke. I was looking at career stats. Of course Hines led the team in rebounds per game with Anderson, McLean and Holloway right behind. Once conference play started and Holloway was out, McLean brought down 6 RPG.

so, just throw out the stats for Pip, CP, and Malik as well? I agree with slapthefloor, he can do the little things he does well and make his contributions there. We don't need him to be a big scoring threat.
But if we're going to be a run and trap type team, his athleticism and rebounding, as well as good D will definitely help

Didn't say to throw out all the stats. I was suggesting that, since last year was an anomaly, that SOME of the stats don't really reflect much about this year's team. Can't wait for the season to start. Conference schedule should be coming out soon.

If we all looked like the player in the first picture we would be one badass team. Click on the picture to enlarge it. Who can name the player?

For example, I don't expect Pipkins to lead the league in scoring this year, because he won't have to play as many minutes.

Of course, I've always got my maroon glasses on but based on what I'm reading and seeing about his year's edition of the Minutemen, my answer to the original question posted by this thread is that we'll look like a winning team in 2018-2019!

The season can't start soon enough to make me happy!

This is a few weeks old so it's probably been posted somewhere, but I found it this morning and thought it was a good read on the upcoming season. It's better than your usual two paragraph summaries where they spell the coaches name wrong, or hype up a player who isn't on the roster anymore. The writer did his research and made some nice points.

He did get the 2017-2018 record wrong, however.

Thanks for reading guys, that's my article. Here's to hoping for a double-bye in Brooklyn!
