The Worcester Red Sox

Barring MLB or the Worcester City Council doing something stupid, the Paw Sox are heading up Rt 146 to Worcester starting in 2021. They'll be known as the WooSox for short.

Thoughts?

As someone that lives about 20 minutes from McCoy stadium with 2 young boys I am very disappointed. Was looking forward to bringing them to games.

Worcester has been going under a major revitalization over the last 10 years or so. This will likely be a boon for them until the novelty of having a new team wears off and they will be facing the same shit that Pawtucket has been facing.

I was hoping for Springfield, but that didn't seem realistic given their full court press for a casino. I can't say that I'm a fan of the "WooSox" name, but I also don't have any alternative suggestions. I'm hopeful that they get a nice stadium in there and it helps revitalize that city.

Springfield would have been nice, but probably wouldn’t have happened anyway. The owner of the Hartford Yard Goats threatened to sue Minor League Baseball and the Sox if the Sox relocated to Springfield, claiming they would move into their territory.
