1991 - 1992 UMass Sweet Sixteen Tee Shirt

Post by baseline47 » Wed Jul 25, 2018 1:00 pm

Want to give this shirt away to a good home. It's never been worn and has been stored in a drawer for 26 years. I would like to see it end up in good hands. If it stays in my house, I'm afraid it will end up as a rag, etc.

After the loss to Kentucky, several fans gathered at Curry Hicks Cage to greet the team returning from Philadelphia. I sent my 9 year old daughter out with this shirt and a Sharpie to collect autographs. She got he following to sign:

Harper Williams #31, Will Herndon #34, Lou Roe, Anton Brown #11, Jim McCoy #20, Tony Barbee #22, Tommy Pace #35, and Kennard Robertson #42.

It was a great team that had great character and was a blast to watch.

Let me know if interested. [email protected]

Isn't there some sort of UMASS basketball HOF room in the Champions center where it can be displayed?

^ The 2004-2005 team that beat puke-on is on the list, but the 91-92 is my favorite.

Very cool story and offer, but such a prized item should probably not be placed in IV's hands. It will only be used to mark reserve spots at a tailgate or as a towel to mop up spilled beer at the Blarney Blowout. And, this makes me sad. We can do better. Donate it to the athletic department - McCall seems respectful of our history- or a youth group.

I've got one of those. No autographs on mine but some genuine xlgman sweat stains. Starting bid is $1.
This is the most enjoyable losing season ever!

baseline - I've mentioned before that our library has a sizable UMass sports collection on one of the high floors. Several years ago I talked with a gentleman who was the curator for the collection. We talked about a couple of older items that I expect to donate. I don't know if autographed shirts fit the scope of what has been collected, but we should find out.
