Funding for College Athletics

Interesting article slamming CSU, Rutgers and EMU. Maybe explains some of the actions not taken by UMASS (i.e. stadium).

Wow this guy is tough on college sports. Ohio state professor. Seems to especially dislike MAC schools.

The team had a seven and six record, culminating in a loss to the second biggest state university of West Virginia in the New Mexico Bowl before a paltry 26,087 fans.
That's an interesting way of saying Marshall.
Like CSU, Rutgers decided a number of years ago it could gain a national reputation through athletic excellence by joining the most academically respectable of the Power Five athletic conferences, the Big Ten.
Oh schools can just declare membership in a conference? This is good news for the SteveMaz' of the world.
The poster child of fiscal insanity regarding college sports, however, is Eastern Michigan University (EMU). It is a member of the Mid American Conference, a group of athletic wannabes mostly located near powerhouse Big Ten schools.
Okay it's kinda true, but I sense bit of bias and some glasshouse stone throwing from an Ohio U professor educated at Northwestern and Illinois.
