When adjusted for inflation the difference isn't as stark. Kellogg's $215k in April 2008 would be worth $244k in March 2017. So yes, McCall's base is higher, I certainly would never be one to turn down a $6,000 raise... but the 2.4% raise in value of a new UMass head coach might be an indication that the Kellogg era didn't do much in making the job attractive in 2017.

I never suggested it was a stark difference.

If you told me on March 9th of 2017 that Derek Kellogg would be the head coach at a D1 program and going to the Big Dance in 2018 I would have laughed in your face.
Nothing but love for DK though. I’m glad he bounced back after being fired from his dream job. I’m sure it was a tough pill to swallow when he got the word he was done. Yes, his style of basketball is incredibly frustrating to watch. I will always wonder what could have been if he was more willing to step outside of his comfort zone and force himself to focus more on the fundamentals - specifically a more disciplined and more centered approach to his offense.

Sorry, not in this game. Eight and a half years of my money (resulting in two gainfully-employed daughters, along with their two gainfully-employed Radford beaus) and I am fully invested in seeking the success of the hoops team to the Final 4 and beyond. If DK can get his team over this hurdle, then I'll happily root for further success.

^harbo, you are a good man.

DK and LIU Brooklyn lose to Radford 71-61. They’re out of the dance.

Coleman's last game: 23 minutes, 7 points on 3 of 9 shots, 3 rebounds. Seems like he's been in college forever.

Alas, the forsaken coach could not continue his triumphant tour against the mighty forces of Radford College. Yes, that indomitable powerhouse Radford. God Speed Coach K. God Speed.

I pray that now that LIU's season is over that this thread will die a quick death.

No need to dog Radford. Not like umass is a powerhouse....in anything. Last time they were good at basketball was for a few years in the mid 90's...20 years ago and they had to get rid of all those wins for cheating. Football was good in like 97? Hockey....never. Congrats to LIU and Radord for making the ncaa tourny.

I was in agreement with you... Radford made the tournament, as did LIU, and we sure as hell did not... until you continued on with everything after the word "powerhouse." Why the hell are you here if you're going to shit on the school and perpetuate lies? Basketball had to forfeit all their wins from the 90s??? Football has only been good for one year?? Hockey has never been good?? What kind of crack did you smoke before posting any of that???

I think billybuck is the UMass-Lowell troll if I'm not mistaken. Hey Bill, how'd U. of Lowell do in the Hockey East tournament this year?

i dont know...just looked at numbers is all....football all time record is 561-557. so .500 ball. 25-83 since 2004. thats 14 years. Maybe powerhouse numbers in your eyes. Not in many others. Basketball..601-464, thats not too bad. Most of those victories came under calipari of course(193). I will say basketball has ok numbers. Not sure powerhouse style. Hockey since 1993, 282-476. Thats all that has to be said about hockey.
