I refer to it as West Point. I often do the same thing with Amherst and just say UMass. A lot of people do that sort of thing for areas/regions. How often do you hear someone say they live in Boston when they really live in Natick or Milton? All the time. No big deal.

You're all correct, according to Wikipedia:

West Point is the oldest continuously occupied military post in the United States. Located on the Hudson River in New York, West Point was identified by General George Washington as the most important strategic position in America during the American Revolution. Until January 1778, West Point was not occupied by the military. On January 27, 1778, Brigadier General Samuel Holden Parsons and his brigade crossed the ice on the Hudson River and climbed to the plain on West Point and from that day to the present, West Point has been occupied by the United States Army. It comprises approximately 16,000 acres (6,500 ha) including the campus of the United States Military Academy, which is commonly called "West Point".

It is a Census Designated Place (CDP) located in the Town of Highlands in Orange County, New York, located on the western bank of the Hudson River. The population was 6,763 at the 2010 census.

So much more like a village, if you will. Like Bondsville in Palmer, Newtonville in Newton, etc...

"Just Jack!"
Been a while since you directed a response directly at me. Many of us that have been here for a long time have not forgotten the other names you have used while acting out. The next thing you know you'll be asking how Capt. RahRah, DS Robertson and the gang are doing. :P
Go UMass, indeed.

Have a scheduling thought for you guys regarding Holy Cross.
Traditionally we have had 2-1 in basketball games. Think they kind of resent it not being home and home.

What about a home and home packaged with a buy home game in football.
Go UMass!!

We should not travel to Holy Cross in Football. If we play them neutral site at Gillette that might be acceptable (still iffy on that), but no way should we be going to an FCS while paying them to come to Amherst.

I doubt @ Holy Cross would ever be on the table.

I misread the suggestion of a home and home for basketball with a payday for football as a home and home for football. sorry.

Not a bad FCS buy game at McGuirk (better than Dookane), but that's about it. I doubt UMass would be interested in tying anything to hoops. Anyway, not a potential issue for the next 4 years, as Steve pointed out. And HC will probably cash a better paycheck from those games than they would from playing us.

The fortifications at West Point were designed by a Polish soldier/engineer Thaddeus Kosciuszko, In 1776, Kościuszko moved to North America, where he took part in the American Revolutionary War as a colonel in the Continental Army. An accomplished military architect, he designed and oversaw the construction of state-of-the-art fortifications, including those at West Point, New York. In 1783, in recognition of his services, the Continental Congress promoted him to brigadier general.

^ More importantly, when I drive to Saratoga, I pass over the Thaddeus Kosciuszko Bridge on I-87. :D
