Re: UMass-NFL news
Anything can happen, but it's just a bit of an odd take considering the accolades and press he has gotten in his career.

A bit of a slight, and could hurt his chances of a decent draft position. We'll see.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

This article says that the NFL combine is essentially 56% accurate at picking the right people to come to the combine. around 330 per year get invited with a third not getting drafted and on average 35 non invites get drafted. So 145/330 misses yearly for the combine. It also lists the most notable snubs, including Adam.
Re: UMass-NFL news
Saw Adam at the game tonight and had a chance to talk to him for a few seconds. He's prepping for his pro-day. He got shafted by not getting an invite to the combine but there will be plenty of scouts at the pro-day.
Re: UMass-NFL news
Sorry to report that Adam has not been able to overcome his injuries and is retiring from football. He will be successful no matter what field he chooses. Nothing but the best for him. Words cannot do justice to describing his farewell message.

Man, what an awesome message from a classy guy. Sorry to hear the bad break regarding a future on the field.
However, the classy guy holds an Isenberg MBA which has been the ticket to a great career for so many people, including several here. Whipple likely has several NFL (or even college) contacts left who can help land him a spot in the field of football. Adam just needs a clause in his contract that he can run a few routes in practice. Chris Berman has become a fan of UMass with his Whipple connections and could probably help out in the media direction. Bad break for Adam, but he has done everything right and I imagine he will continue to do so.

Always sad when injury prevents a player from reaching his goals. Adam seems to be a guy who will set new goals and be successful in achieving them. Best of luck to him!

Swampy and I are good friends and sit together at games. We don't claim to be football experts. Actually, just the opposite. Love Adam and his contribution to our program, but, between his MBA opportunity and his knee, I really didn't think he would be an NFL player. Now that he will have that degree, as an (very long time ago) Isenberg MBA holder myself, I believe that made his decision much easier.

I continue to be surprised by you guys who even discuss Adam leaving in the middle of an Isenberg MBA. I know very little about how the NFL draft or free agent system works, but unless he really is a high draft choice, I'm dubious.

I will be very surprised if Breneman ever plays a down in the NFL. He's slow and unless he's a better route runner than what I saw it just isn't happening. After its all said and done he'll be happy he got that UMASS diploma.

I know how much Adam loves football, but I hope this will be a blessing in disguise. He has a BA from Penn State and an MBA from Isenberg, and that will open the doors to many great career opportunities. Good luck, Adam!

Is this an "I told you so" post? Because neither of your posts mention anything about the real reason he isn't pursuing this further, just speculation about other things. Just curious.

^ Just curious - what do you think is the real reason?
