This is the 50th year of the Naismith College Basketball Player of the Year award (BB equiv. of the Heisman) and they are honoring each of the winners at their home school. For those that have not seen it, Marcus Camby, the 1996 winner, will be honored at half time.
While many of us older and not quite so old fans remember Marcus, we have posters who are younger and may not know just how good he was. When he won the award, he beat out Ray Allen, Tim Duncan and Allen Iverson, among others.
We need a monster crowd on Saturday to honor Marcus and to support this team of overachievers. 45 and sunny, so no excuses.

Monster turn out would be nice. Judging by the tickets still available, that will not be the case. It's too bad the students won't be back for this one, as I'm sure there would be a semi decent turnout with how the team has been performing of late. First home game with students back will be 1/30 and 9 league games will have already been played.

I tweeted to Bamford and AP before I saw your post, because I was reading a story on this event nation wide. Hoping UMass will get more eyes on the event than just preaching to the choir on twitter or other electronic methods. Maybe get Maybe get Bostonherald or other newspapers to cover it?69MG wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2018 2:24 pm This is the 50th year of the Naismith College Basketball Player of the Year award (BB equiv. of the Heisman) and they are honoring each of the winners at their home school. There plus three. You all should be too. Team deserves way more support than it's been getting.

^ And besides, we need a lot more people to show up if I'm going to win the attendance prediction contest (4,225 - way overestimated).

Me +6 (maybe 7)
Not likely to wear maroon pants Saturday. Don't want to wear out the suit.

Mrs. Sign Man just rescheduled her Saturday hair salon appointment to 7:00 a.m. so she could come to the game...

Me +4. I'm bringing one person in their 50's to get my group's average age down to 67. Believe it or not, that's the real number.

Good representation from the Class of '69. You can also add Ed (Sign Man) to the group.Mills-Hamlin 69 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 2:38 pmWe have a group of 23 coming. Most of us have, or are about to, just tipped 70. No one under 60!
